O D.Others may notice a problem with a relationship before the people involved.
Mark for review (Will be highlighted on the review page)

Answers

Answer:

C. The first sign of a problem with a relationship is a feeling of anger.

Explanation:

A relationship can be defined as an interpersonal and continuous connection (association) between two or more individuals such as family, marriage, friends, coworkers, etc. It is a committed connection or binding association between two or more individuals in which they have some level of influence on the emotions, feelings, thought or actions of each other. Thus, it creates mutual understanding, familiarity and awareness between the parties involved.

However, when a relationship isn't properly managed and nurtured it breeds misunderstanding, quarrels, anger, contemptuousness, discountenance, hate, etc.

The first sign of a problem with a relationship is misunderstandings, depression, confusion or nagging by one of the parties.

Hence, a feeling of anger isn't the first sign of a problem with a relationship because it is only triggered as a result of the aforementioned signs.

Select the correct answer. What can be correctly concluded based on this excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich? At the law courts too, Ivan Ilyich noticed, or thought he noticed, a strange attitude towards himself. It sometimes seemed to him that people were watching him inquisitively as a man whose place might soon be vacant. Then again, his friends would suddenly begin to chaff him in a friendly way about his low spirits, as if the awful, horrible, and unheard-of thing that was going on within him, incessantly gnawing at him and irresistibly drawing him away, was a very agreeable subject for jests. Schwartz in particular irritated him by his jocularity, vivacity, and savoir-faire, which reminded him of what he himself had been ten years ago. A. Ivan misses his former self before the fear of his impending death forced him to mend his ways. B. Ivan looks forward to spending quality time with his friends, but not his family. C. Ivan likes to share his innermost thoughts and feelings with his friends. D. Ivan was pompous and fake until his impending death made him face the reality of his life. E. Ivan found his friends to be caring and supportive during his illness after his bad fall.

Answers

Answer:

B.Ivan looks forward to spending quality time with his friends, but not his family.

James is writing a literary analysis essay on a short story, “The Looking-Glass” by Anton Chekhov. Read the introduction to his essay. Anton Chekhov's "The Looking-Glass" opens with Nellie, a young woman full of yearning to be married. Gazing into a mirror, she envisions a young man, “the destined one,” whom she will wed. He is no one in particular—just a vague and charming dream. However, the future Nellie then sees with him is strikingly real and terribly bleak. Through this young woman’s vision, Chekhov explores issues of happiness and hope when death is inescapable. Which piece of textual evidence should James use to help support the claim made in the introduction?

And all the previous life with her husband seemed to her a prelude to this.” Thus the correct option is C.

What is the Claim?

A claim is referred to as an argument that is made without evidence. This argument is based on the assumptions and opinions of the pople. the evidence is not supported by giving proof of any event.

The Looking-Glass by Anton Chekhov begins with Nellie, a young woman who is eager to get married. Chekhov examines problems of happiness and optimism when death is unavoidable through the eyes of this young woman.

What do Nick and Gatsby discuss before Nick realizes Gatsby's identity as host?
The war, Car, Boats, Girls

Answers

Answer:

The war.

Explanation:

F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" revolves around the character of Jay Gatsby and his 'lost American dream'. Though narrated by another character, Nick Carraway, the novel focuses on Gatsby, his life, his desire for Daisy, the theme of status, greed, betrayal, lost love, etc.

In Chapter 3, Nick had gone to Gatsby's party after being invited. Though he knows his neighbor's name is Gatsby and that he would often throw parties, he hadn't actually met the man himself. While there at the party, he was conversing with Jordan at a table where there was a "man of about [his] age". That man started a conversation with him, asking if he had been "in the Third Division during the war", to which Nick replied that he "was in the Ninth Machine-Gun Battalion." The man then declared that he "was in the Seventh Infantry until June nineteen-eighteen." Shortly after this encounter, Nick discovered that the man was Gatsby himself after Gatsby remarked, "I'm Gatsby."

help pleas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Mary Anning: First Fossil Hunter

Smack! Smash! Splash! In 1799, Mary Anning was born to the sound of ocean waves crashing against the cliffs of Lyme Regis, England. When Mary was just a few years old, she and her older brother, Joseph, would go to the town's seashore with her father. Here Mary's father taught his children how to hunt for fossils in the rocks and cliffs. At this time, scientists were just beginning to understand fossils, or the remains of plants and animals that lived long, long ago. Wealthy visitors would come to Lyme Regis to vacation. The Anning family had little money, so they would sell the small fossils they found to these tourists.

Mary was a quiet girl. Some might say that in Mary's case still waters run deep because she was also bright, curious, and a hard worker who spent long days on the beach looking for fossils. She needed to help her family survive. Life was hard and when it rains, it pours. Soon, Mary's father died. Although she was only 10, Mary was forced to quit school, and now she needed to work even harder to find fossils to sell. Because of unstable cliffs, battering waves, and sudden storms, Mary had to be bold and daring. It was dangerous work.

But one day, something happened to show that every cloud has a silver lining. When Mary was about 12, Joseph made a fantastic find. He found a large fossil skull that had a long nose and many teeth.

First, Mary planned how to uncover the rest of the creature. Then, over several months, she unearthed each part of the fossil. Since haste makes waste, Mary did not want to hurry and damage the fossil. She chiseled and chipped slowly, tapping and brushing carefully. Finally, Mary uncovered an almost complete skeleton of a prehistoric creature. A wealthy neighbor bought the fossils and later scientists named the creature ichthyosaur, or fish-lizard.

The discovery of the ichthyosaur called attention to Mary as a fossil hunter, but her family was still poor. Mary continued to uncover fossils to sell. Even though she had little formal schooling, Mary knew how to read and write. During her teenage years, Mary taught herself about rocks, animals, fish, and the earth. She wrote letters to well-known scientists. Some scientists came to visit her in Lyme Regis.

About 11 years after finding ichthyosaur, Mary made another astonishing discovery. She dug out another reptile that had lived in the sea, the first complete plesiosaur. The plesiosaur was nine feet long with a lizard's head and crocodile teeth. Scientists called the long-necked plesiosaur the sea dragon. This was followed by her discovery of the rare fossil of the flying dragon, pterodactyl.

With each discovery, Mary's fame grew. Visitors followed her on fossil hunts, and scientists combed the beach with her. Throughout her life, Mary looked for fossils. She was one of the first persons to make a living as a fossil hunter. Mary helped solve the puzzle of what life was like long ago.

After her death in 1847, Mary was honored with a stained-glass window in the church of Lyme Regis. Many of the fossils Mary Anning uncovered are still studied and displayed in museums.

Why does the author state the date of Mary's birth at the beginning of the passage and the date of her death at the end of the passage?

A.

to show the time order of events in Mary's life

B.

to show what caused Mary to be interested in fossils

C.

to show how Mary's life was different from Joseph's life

D.

to show the effects of the hard life that Mary's family lived

PASSAGE:5 Mr. Franklin is remembered as a scientist, inventor, printer, writer, and one of our countrys important early leaders. His ant experiment is just one of many interesting stories from his life.6 One day he discovered ants crawling all over his kitchen shelf. Within minutes, a little jar of molasses was alive with them. He picked up the container and took out the pests.7 But one ant stayed inside, swallowing the sweet, sticky syrup and storing it in the pouch, or crop, inside her mouth. (All worker ants are females.)8 Because Mr. Franklin wanted to know if ants could communicate with one another, he gave this ant a challenge. He tied a piece of string around the mouth of the jar and hung it on a nail in the ceiling. Then he settled down to wait and watch.9 Shortly, the insect crawled up the inside of the container, over the rim, and down the side.10 But when she reached the bottom, there was, of course, no shelf! The ant dashed here and there and round and round. She zigged and zagged and eventually found the string.11 Then a fast march up, a dash across the ceiling, and a race down the wall and over the floor led her to an opening that let her out of the kitchen. She vanished.12 About thirty minutes later, Mr. Franklin spotted an army of ants moving like running water toward the wall. They swarmed up, flowed across the ceiling, and scrambled over to the nail holding the string. They lined up and marched, one after another, down the string and into the jar.13 Before long, there were two lines of ants on the string, one line tramping down to get at the sweet food, and the other line parading upward. They were carrying home globs of molasses in their crops.QUESTION:Which statement best summarizes Benjamin Franklins discovery in the second section of the passage?A.
