Answer 2

8 ounces of silver alloy that costs $5.50 per ounce should be mixed with 12 ounces of silver alloy that costs $8.00 per ounce to make a new 20-ounce alloy that costs $7.00 per ounce.

What are Linear Equations?

Linear equations are equation involving one or more expressions including variables and constants and the variables are having no exponents or the exponent of the variable is 1.

Let x be the number of ounces of silver alloy which costs $5.50 per ounce and y be the number of ounces of silver alloy that costs $8.00 per ounce.

We have,

x + y = 20

5.50x + 8.00y = 7 × 20

From the first equation, x = 20 - y

Substituting this in the second equation,

5.5 (20 - y) + 8y = 140

(5.5 × 20) - 5.5y + 8y = 140

110 + 2.5y = 140

2.5y = 30

y = 12

x = 20 - y = 20 - 12 = 8

Hence the number of $5.50 cost per ounce silver alloy used is 8 ounces and the other alloy used is 12 ounces.

By solving a simple linear equation, we will get that:

36° = m∠AOB

How to find m∠AOB?

We can write a simple linear equation here, we know that:

m∠AOC = 108°

And we also know that:

m∠AOC = 3*m∠AOB

If we replace the first equation into the second one, then we will have the linear equation:

108° = 3*m∠AOB

And we want to solve this for m∠AOB, to do so, we just need to divid both sides by 3, we will get:

108°/3 = m∠AOB

36° = m∠AOB

We conclude that the measure of angle ∠AOB is 36°

A pizza shop offers a choice of 3 sizes (small, medium, and large) and 7 different toppings. Different pizzas can be created by changing the size and/or the choice of toppings. If Cody wants to order a pizza with exactly 2 different toppings, how many different pizzas can he create?

1. 6
2. 21
3. 63
4. 121

Answers

Using permutation and combination we can calculate that she can get 63 different types of pizza.

Permutations and combinations are the various ways in which elements from a set may be chosen, typically without replacement, to create subsets. This choice of subsets is known as a permutation when the order of the selection is taken into account, and as a combination when it is not.

The total of the decisions we make given an initial set of n items is known as a combination. Permutation, on the other hand, counts the number of possible arrangements of n separate items. This will help us recall that combinations place more emphasis on choice than on placement, order, or arrangement.

Now Cody can get any two toppings out of the 7.

Number of ways in which Cody can pick 2 toppings out of 7 is given by the use of combination,

7C2 = 21 different ways.

Again the number of ways in which 3 different pizza s can be selected is given by 21 × 3 = 63 ways.

Hence Cody can create 63 different pizzas.

2. y = (x - 7)^2

Help with these problems above would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Answers

Answer:

1.  3 and -5

2.  7

Step-by-step explanation:

The zeros of functions are the x-values when y = 0, i.e the point(s) at which the line crosses the x-axis.

To find the zeros of the given functions, set the function to zero and solve for x.

Question 1

Given function:

[tex]y=5(x-3)(x+5)[/tex]

Set the function to zero:

[tex]\implies 5(x-3)(x+5)=0[/tex]

[tex]\implies \dfrac{5(x-3)(x+5)}{5}=\dfrac{0}{5}\\[/tex]

[tex]\implies (x-3)(x+5)=0[/tex]

Using the Zero Product Property, set each factor equal to zero and solve for x:

[tex]\implies (x-3)=0 \implies x=3[/tex]

[tex]\implies (x+5)=0 \implies x=-5[/tex]

Therefore, the zeros of the function are 3 and -5.

Question 2

Given function:

[tex]y=(x-7)^2[/tex]

Set the function to zero and solve for x

[tex]\implies (x-7)^2=0[/tex]

[tex]\implies \sqrt{(x-7)^2}=\sqrt{0}[/tex]

[tex]\implies x-7=0[/tex]

[tex]\implies x=7[/tex]

Therefore, the zero of the function is 7 (with multiplicity 2).

5/6m - 4 < 1/3m + 5

Subtract 1/3m from both sides of the inequality expression

So, we have

1/2m - 4 < 5

Add 4 to both sides of the inequality expression

So, we have

1/2m < 9

Divide both sides of the inequality expression hy 1/2

So, we have

m < 18

Find the slope and write an equation of the line which passes through the points.
A
(5,6) and (3,4)

Answers

The slope and equation of line with the coordinates (5,6) and (3,4) are 1 and y = x + 1 respectively.

How determine the slope of a line segment line?

Slope is simply expressed as change in y over the change in x.

Slope m = ( y₂ - y₁ )/( x₂ - x₁ )

Given the data in the question;

Point A(5,6)

x₁ = 5y₁ = 6

Point B(3,4)

x₂ = 3y₂ = 4

Slope m = ?

To determine the slope, plug the given coordinates into the slope formula and simplify.

Slope m = ( y₂ - y₁ )/( x₂ - x₁ )

Slope m = ( 4 - 6 )/( 3 - 5 )

Slope m = ( -2 )/( -2 )

Slope m = ( -1 )/( -1 )

Slope m = 1/1

Slope m = 1

Next, use the the formula for the equation of line to determine the y-intercept 'b'.

y = mx + b

Plug in slope m = 1 and point (5,6)

6 = 1(5) + b

6 = 5 + b

b = 6 - 5

b = 1

Now that we have both the slope m ( 1 ) and y-intercept b ( 1 ), plug these values into y = mx + b to find the linear equation.

y = mx + b

y = 1x + 1

y = x + 1

Therefore, the slope is 1 and equation of line is y = x + 1.

What are the missing numbers?

In order to determine the value of A, subtract [tex]1\frac{1}{4}[/tex] from [tex]2\frac{3}{4}[/tex]. Subtraction is the mathematical operation that is sued to determine the difference between two or more numbers

A =  [tex]2\frac{3}{4}[/tex] -  [tex]1\frac{1}{4}[/tex]

[tex]1\frac{3 - 1}{4}[/tex] = 1 [tex]\frac{2}{4}[/tex] = [tex]1\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

In order to determine the value of B, add [tex]4\frac{1}{2}[/tex] and [tex]2\frac{3}{4}[/tex] together. Addition is the process used to determine the sum of two or more numbers.

B = [tex]4\frac{1}{2}[/tex] + [tex]2\frac{3}{4}[/tex]

[tex]6\frac{2 + 3}{4}[/tex] = [tex]6\frac{5}{4}[/tex] = [tex]7\frac{1}{4}[/tex]

How to determine all the features of a quadratic equation

In this problem we have a quadratic equation in standard form, whose definition is shown below:

f(x) - h = C · (x - h)²        (1)

Where:

(h, k) - Coordinates of the vertex.C - Vertex constant.

Now we proceed to determine each of the required features:

Vertex

The quadratic equation has a vertex at point (3, 1).

Axis of symmetry

The axis of symmetry of the parabola is x = 3.

Min/Max value

For as the vertex constant is a negative number, then the vertex represents a maximum. Then, we evaluate the function at x = 3:

f(3) = 1

y-Intercept

The y-intercept is the value of the quadratic equation evaluated at x = 0.

f(0) = - (0 - 3)² + 1

f(0) = - 9 + 1

f(0) = - 8

x-Intercepts

The x-intercepts are the values of x such that f(x) = 0, all these can be found by using algebra properties:

- (x - 3)² + 1 = 0

- (x² - 6 · x + 9) + 1 = 0

- x² + 6 · x - 9 + 1 = 0

x² - 6 · x + 8 = 0

(x - 2) · (x - 4) = 0

Then, the x-intercepts of the parabola are (2, 0) and (4, 0).

Domain

The domain of all quadratic equations are all real numbers.

Range

Since the vertex constant is negative, the range of the quadratic equation is the subset of all real numbers equal or less than the y-value of the vertex.

Sketch of the graph

Please check the image attached below to see the graph.

Standard form

The standard form of the quadratic equation is:

f(x) = x² - 6 · x + 8

Rigid transformations done

Let be g(x) = x², it is transformed into f(x) = - (x - 3)² + 1 by using the following rigid transformations:

Horizontal translation 3 units to the right.Reflection about the x-axis.Vertical translation a unit up.
