Is experiencing colors, joy, and love worth also experiencing pain, war, and hate? Why or why not?

Answers

Answer:

Yes, experiencing colours, joy and love are worth experiencing pain, war and hate, because life is all about love, happiness and pain as well. Pain and hatred teach us to get stronger and move on. If we only experienced happiness then it wouldn't have taught us to move on with things. At the end of the day, everything is worth it.

Explanation:

Answer:

Yes, it is.

Explanation:

Without experiencing pain, war, or hate you wouldn't be able to see how sweet joy, love, and color is. You really can't get rid of one without getting rid of the other...at least that's what I think.

What point of view does Jefferson Davis express in this excerpt from his inaugural address?

The declared purpose of the compact of Union from which we have withdrawn was "to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity;" and when, in the judgment of the sovereign States now composing this Confedera cy, it had been per verted from the purposes for which it was ordained, and had ceased to answer the ends for which it was established, a peaceful appeal to the ballot-box declared that so far as they were concerned, the government created by that compact should cease to exist. In this they merely asserted a right which the Declaration of Independence of 1776 had defined to be inalienable. The right solemnly proclaimed at the birth of the States, and which has been affirmed and reaffirmed in the bills of rights of States subsequently admitted into the Union of 1789, undeniably recognize in the people the power to resume the authority delegated for the purposes of government. What inference can be made about ukuleles?

The first ukuleles were developed in Hawaii in the 1800s, as a result of Portuguese influence. Native Hawaiians enjoyed music from a Portuguese instrument called the machete and adapted it to suit Hawaiian tastes. The ukulele soon spread to mainland America during the 1910s, where it became an immediate sensation. They quickly became very popular because they could be quickly and cheaply made from a small amount of wood. After the World Wars, plastic ukuleles revitalized the declining ukulele fad by making them even more affordable to the average American. Today, ukuleles are still enjoyed by many enthusiasts and come in a wide variety of shapes and sounds.

Ukuleles are less expensive than many other instruments.

Ukuleles are made of very durable materials.

Portuguese instruments are very popular.

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

One inference that can be made about ukuleles is that they have a rich history and cultural significance in Hawaii, and that their popularity has spread beyond Hawaii to other parts of the world. Another inference is that their popularity has been sustained over time, as evidenced by the continued enjoyment of ukuleles by many enthusiasts today. Additionally, the affordability and accessibility of ukuleles have likely contributed to their popularity, as they can be made from inexpensive materials and are relatively easy to learn to play.

Read the excerpt about Poseidon’s underwater home from The Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece and Rome by E. M. Berens.

This delightful abode was surrounded on all sides by wide fields, where there were whole groves of dark purple coralline, and tufts of beautiful scarlet-leaved plants, and sea-anemones of every tint. Here grew bright, pinky sea-weeds, mosses of all hues and shades, and tall grasses, which, growing upwards, formed emerald caves and grottoes such as the Nereides love, whilst fish of various kinds playfully darted in and out, in the full enjoyment of their native element. Nor was illumination wanting in this fairy-like region, which at night was lit up by the glowworms of the deep.

Edgar Allen Poe causes a sense of fear and horror with his wording.

Explanation:

Edgar Allen Poe uses repetition, he uses it wisely causing a sense of suspense. For example he repeats "quote the raven Nevermore" after most of the stanzas he uses it as a way to show us his loss of sanity. In the story "The Tell-Tale Heart" he uses the phrase "a watch when it's developed in cotton" he uses it when he even mentions a heartbeat. Edgar Allen Poe uses repetition to cause a sense of horror to shiver the reader and drag them to the story and cause them to feel the speakers feelings.

THE MATCH

There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.

Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by nature—by a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.

In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.

The Giver Book Writing Prompt:
Comment on this observation that Jonas makes (pages 97-98): “If everything’s the same, then there aren’t any choices!” Please write a strong paragraph using descriptive words.

Answers

Answer:

On pages 97- 98 of The Giver Jonas made the remark of "If everything’s the same, then there aren’t any choices!"  I feel that he is correct when he says this, what Jonas is saying is that if everything in the world is the same, then how are we to make any choices? Jonas is right when he makes this remark because if we have nothing different to chose from than we cant make any choices. An example is if you want to pick the color blue or red, you wouldn't be able to in his world, because everything in the same.

In The Giver, written by Lois Lowry, Jonas who is the main character claims that "If everything's the same, then there aren't any choices!" He states this on pages 97-98 and I personally strongly agree with him. If everything is the same, every day would be extremely similar. So if you would want to keep everything the same, that would mean making little to no choices during the day. And that seems like quite a horrible situation to be stuck in for your whole life.

The importance of this Bridge in its far-reaching effects at once entices and baffles the imagination. At either end of the Bridge lies a great city – cities full of vigorous life. The activities and the energies of each flow over into the other. The electric current has conveyed unchecked between the two the interchanging thoughts, but the rapid river has ever bidden halt to the foot of man. It is as though the population of these cities had been brought down to the river-side, year after year, there to be taught patience; and as though, in this Bridge, after these many years, patience had had her perfect work. The ardent merchant, the busy lawyer, the impatient traveler – all, without distinction and without exception – at the river have been told to wait. No one can compute the loss of time ensuing daily from delays at the ferries to the multitudes crossing the stream. And time is not only money – it is opportunity. Brooklyn becomes available, henceforth, as a place of residence to thousands, to whom the ability to reach their places of business without interruption from fog and ice is of paramount importance. To all Brooklyn's present citizens a distinct boon is given.

The unrest came as governments and Western institutions in many parts of the Muslim world braced for protests after Friday Prayer an occasion often associated with demonstrations as worshipers leave mosques.

The protesters threatened to seize the American Embassy on Saturday, but a police order banned any further demonstrations.

France had already announced the closure on Friday of embassies and other institutions in 20 countries while, in Paris, some Muslim leaders urged their followers to heed a government ban on weekend demonstrations protesting against denigration of the prophet.

Businesses closed and streets emptied across the country as the government declared a national holiday, the "Day of Love for the Prophet Muhammad," to encourage peaceful protests against the controversial film that has ignited protest across the Muslim world for more than a week

What inferences can be made about Galveston, Texas?

Advances in technology and meteorology have led to more accurate forecasting of hurricanes days in advance of landfall. Those forecasts have likely saved countless lives, as people are able to prepare or evacuate. Unfortunately, those forecasts were not available to the victims of the 1900 Galveston Hurricane. Four days before the storm hit Galveston, Texas, the National Weather Service sent
out an alert that a tropical storm had hit Cuba, but there were no real concerns about it making landfall in Galveston. There were isolated warnings that the hurricane was headed for Texas, but the warnings were ignored because of the calm weather at the time. The storm made landfall on September 8, and in
addition to strong winds, a high storm surge covered the island in seawater, which destroyed thousands of buildings and caused many deaths.

SHARKS' TEETH
Langston Carter

The day we found the sharks' teeth was foggy and cool. Moisture hung in the air so thick you could almost see it sparkling in the dim sunlight. There were days, early in the summer like this one, where it seemed there was more water in the air than in the bay. We had beached the boat and stepped out on the recently cleared spit of land. The ground had a light dusting of white sand over an under layer of dried black mud. It looked like a recently frosted chocolate cake, though the frosting was spread a bit thin for my taste. The ground was solid, but we knew from experience that it was full of fiddler crab holes, and would be underwater at the first super-high tide. Mysteriously, to us anyway, someone wanted to build a house there.

We often came to these spots to look for artifacts. Our beach, our summer home, had been a fishing camp for as long as anyone living could remember. The oldest stories told of travelers coming down to the edge of the sea, lining up to fill their wagon beds with salted fish to take back home. Old decaying cabins still lined the beach. Rotting nets, hung out to dry in the last century, decorated their weathered walls. Their broken faces spun stories in our minds. The fishermen who, tanned and wrinkled from sun and salt, hauled their nets full of splashing mullet in to cheers from the waiting crowds. The bounty of the sea lightened everyone's hearts, and the smell of roasting fish filled the damp air. Women fanned themselves from wagon seats. Children splashed in the shallow edges of the bay. It was a scene we had acted out as youngsters, building an imaginary bridge to a life we would never fully know.

there is a local monument in Iowa named the ¨Black Angel¨ this statue was built in 1913 by the artist Mario Korbel. It was used as a memorial for Edward Dolezal. The story of the eerie ¨Black Angel¨ dates all the way back to the late 19th century. This is when tourist Teresa Feldevert traveled to Iowa City. She was married at the time and had a son named ,Edward Dolezal  who later  died in Iowa City in 1891. She had requested for an angel statue to be looking down upon her sons grave. it is still to this day in the local  Iowa City cemetery. Many students and surrounding residents of Iowa City visit the statue. The biggest night of attraction is Halloween where students and residents gather around the statue, some test their luck by touching or kissing the statue. It is said that if one touches or kisses the statue they will be struck dead unless that person is a virgin. It is also rumored that if a pregnant woman walks beneath the statue’s stretched wings that she will miscarry.

Answer:

An example of an urban legend includes Mythology. My example of Mythology is about the Greek Gods. Zeus, the ruler of the universe,  is one of the most important characters. Hades, the oldest, is the ruler of the UnderWorld, where all the mortals go to when they die. I find this interesting because why is Hades the oldest child, not the ruler of the universe?

I read a book about it, and it was Hades' point of view. So apparently, the Gods played cards to see who would win, and Zeus cheated, but no one could do anything about it.  Hades didn't even want to rule, so everyone was content about it. I still find it unfair that Zeus is the ruler of the universe instead of Hades.  Shouldn't the oldest get the privileges? Also, Hades couldn't do anything because he swore on River Styx that he would protect his brothers from harm.

The story of Hades and Persephone was also wrong. P-phone wanted to run away to Hades, but Hades didn't know that. She sat on the end of his carriage without his knowledge and ended up in the Underworld. Hades never stole Persephone away. That's just some Myth-O-maniacs, just like Hades said. You should read those books.

B. Font changes between chapters show shifts in the point of view.
C. The story features all the usual coming-of-age details, including a

D. In the story, animals seem to symbolize each character's

Answers

Answer:

Font changes between chapters show shifts in the point of view.

Explanation:

What is a medium? a medium is HOW the story is told. Different types of mediums include audiobooks, graphic novels, comic books, etc

Looking back at the answer choices, B most clearly describes the medium because it says "between chapters". The word chapters imply that this is a book, most likely a novel. You won't see font, writing, or chapters in an audiobook, just a voice

Note: I know this is late but just incase anyone needs it lol. thank me later

Font changes between chapters show shifts in the point of view, most clearly describing the medium of a story. Thus, option B is correct.

What is the story?

A story is written when there is a theme upload and characters involved it can be written in the first person, second person, or third person it usually contains multiple paragraphs for a story it can be a short or long story.

The story is being written and there are needed to have some changes or shifts in the view, then it would help as it would let us know what all will be the sub-points point about the story being told. It also helps in bifurcation as there are different fonts available and which are in different sizes as well as in structural forms.

The font variations throughout sections indicate changes in the viewpoint, best illustrating the storytelling format. Therefore, option B is the correct option.
