the drop contain? (#51)

In An Experiment It Was Found That The Total Charge On An Oildrop Was 5.93 X 10^-18 C How Many Negative

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

37 negative charges.

Explanation:

We're being asked to determine how many negative charges a drop contains from an oil drop experiment where the total charge was 5.93x10-18 C. The drop contains 37 negative charges.

Answer 2

It was stated and identified that we are to attempt question #51 alone.

From the given information;

The total charge on an oil drop = 5.93 × 10⁻¹⁸ C

According to Oil drop experiment carried out by Robert Milliken in (1910);

In the oil drop laboratory experiment, It was possible for Him to substitute oil for water (because water quickly evaporate). Robert Milikan adjusted the electrical voltage among the two metal plates while the oil drop continues to drop until it stopped. When the drop was stopped, the gravitational downward force on the oil drop was equivalent to the electrical upward force on the charges thereby enabling Robert Millikan to be able to estimate the electrical charge drop.

Robert Milliken identified that the magnitude of a single negative electron charge is:

= 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C

If in an experiment, the total charge =  5.93 × 10⁻¹⁸ C

Then;

The number of negative charges in the oil drop can be calculated as;

[tex]\mathbf{=\dfrac{5.93 \times 10^{-18}}{1.6 \times 10^{-19}}}[/tex]

= 37.063 negative charges

Therefore, we can conclude that the numbers of negative charges contained in the total drop = 37.063.

1. This experiment was to find how mass and speed effect KE. This is important because if you were in a situation where you needed something to go higher, you would know to add more or less of mass/speed.

To test mass, we filled the bean bag with a certain amount of water, then dropped it. After, you recorded how high it made the bean bag go. The same with speed, but same amount in the bottle, just dropped from different heights.

My hypothesis is when you have more mass, the KE will be greater. This is also the same with speed, if it is dropped from a higher place, the bean bag will launch farther than the last time.

2. Data I collected from the lab was like my hypothesis explained. When the height of the bottle increased, it made the bean bag go higher than the last. And I tested 4 different masses, 0.125 kg, 0.250kg, 0.375kg and 0.500kg. Each time the bean bag went higher on a larger mass.

A lot of times on the speed test, the bean bag would go higher than the bottle drop point, but not every time. Also, when it was dropped from the same height each time, some results varied quite a bit, like when it was dropped from 1.28 the results were 1.14 then 1.30 1.30. Mass on the other hand was all in the same number range, only once the numbers were a bit off from each other.

3.  Some formulas I used were KE= ½ mv^2 and Ht v^2/2g. The first was to calculate the kinetic energy of an object, m=mass v=speed. Second was for finding out what height I needed to drop something to reach a certain speed, Ht=Height and g= Gravitational Acceleration of 9.8 m/s^2.

I used these to figure out tables that showed relationships between different things like mass and KE or speed and height. The whole time I was doing the lab, my data was going up, when there was more mass/speed there were higher values in the table.

This means that my hypothesis at the beginning was correct, more of m/s means KE will increase proportionally because they are all linear. I found it surprising when the bean bag height went over the water bottle drop mark.

4.     To conclude, my hypothesis matched my data. The data values went up when more mass or speed was added. This means if I were in a situation where I needed more kinetic energy for something, I would know to increase mass or the speed of the object giving it energy.

The reason that this hypothesis is correct is when you have more mass, you have more energy. So, when you drop let's say a baseball, it isn’t that heavy so it would only launch the bean bag so far. But a bowling ball is very heavy and has lots of energy when falling because of that, it would make the bean bag go very high.

To make this experiment better, I would use a smoother material for the lever so energy wouldn’t be lost by friction from wood rubbing together. Also, maybe a scanner or video camera to more accurately record how far the bean bag went. All of these would help the lab get more precise results, maybe they could be used in a future lab.

What is the difference in drawing Lewis Dot
Structures for ionic and covalent bonds?

Answers

Answer:

In Lewis Dot Structure of Covalent compound it never contain any charge and for Ionic compounds always contain charges.

The Lewis Dot Structure for ionic compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are transported to create the ions in the compound. The Lewis Dot Structures of covalent compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are being shared to finish the octets of each atom in the molecule.

What is an ionic compound ?

A chemical compound known as an ionic compound is one that contains ions bound together by the electrostatic forces known as ionic bonding. Despite having both positively and negatively charged ions, or cations and anions, the molecule is generally neutral.

The term "ionic bonding" refers to a bond in which the ionic character is greater than the covalent character, i.e., when there is a significant difference in the electronegativity of the two atoms, which makes the bond more polar (ionic) than in a covalent bond, where the electrons are distributed more evenly.

The Lewis structures are not frequently drawn for ionic compounds due to the electrical motion of electrons.

Thus, The Lewis Dot Structure for ionic compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are transported to create the ions in the compound.

what always forms between two large air masses of different moisture and air temperature?

Answers

Answer:

"What always forms between two large air masses of different moisture and air temperature?"

Explanation:

When a cold air mass replaces a warm air mass the boundary between the two air masses is called a cold front. ... Fronts form at the boundary between air masses of different temperatures and moisture. Warm air always slopes upward over colder air.

The boundary between two air masses of different density such when it can not move called “stationary” “warm” when warmer air replaces cooler air.

What is density ?

The density  can be defined as  the mass per unit volume which means that it is the ratio between mass and volume, that means the object has  the  stuff  in a unit volume.

Density is determined by the matter where it shows how the matter is tightly crammed together and  it was put forwarded  by the Greek scientist Archimedes

To calculate the density of an object, the mass (m) can be divided by the volume (v)

Density = Mass/Volume

The different units include  SI unit of density which is kilogram per cubic meter (kg/m3) or in cgs unit of grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm3).

Use fewer cations than anions so that the compound is negatively charged.
IT's C

Answers

Answer:

Option C: Use enough cations and anions so that the total charge is zero

Explanation:

In a stable ionic compound, to get a predict the formula, the positive and negative ions on one side need to cancel out so that the compound becomes neutral.

For example, let's take consider an ionic compound known as Potassium Chloride. It has a formula KCl. Now , breaking it down, the charges will be; K+ and Cl-. This means Potassium (K) has +1 charges and Chloride has -1 charges. Thus, they will cancel out to give a total neutral charge of 0.

Thus, the correct answer is to use enough a ions and cations so that the total charge is zero.

Which table represents a proportional relationship that has a constant of proportionality equal to 0.8? Imagine that you are looking at two stars in the night sky. The second star appears brighter than the first star. Name at least two reasons from the passage that the second star might appear brighter. -please read this to help u ---> After the sun sets, take a look at the night sky. On a clear night, youll be able to see stars scattered across the black expanse that we call our universe. If youre lucky, you might be able to spot some stars that look bigger than othersthey shine brighter and attract our attention more than their smaller neighbors do. You might wonder: why are some stars brighter than others?After much observation, scientists discovered the way stars appear to us depends on more than their actual sizeits also about how far they are from us. Therefore, the farther a star is from Earth, the smaller it will appear to us. The closer it is, the bigger it will look.Try to think of the biggest star youve seen in the sky. An easy one, right? The sun! Thats because the sun is closest to us compared to all other stars, located at just a short 150 million kilometers from Earth.The next one? Thats a tougher question. Many people answer Alpha Centauri, but some dont know that its actually a cluster of three starsAlpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Proxima Centauri. Proxima Centauri is 4.24 light-years away and closest to our sun. A light-year is the distance that light travels in one year. We use this measurement because light is the only thing in the universe that maintains a constant speed. However, even though Proxima Centauri is the closest star to the earth after the sun, you can only see it with a very powerful telescope. That doesnt make sensedidnt we just say that closer stars appear larger and more visible?Well, Proxima Centauri is what we call a red dwarf. Red dwarf stars are very small, typically having less than half the mass of the sun. That means they generate less energy than the sun. Most stars burn hydrogen for fuel. Similar to the way a car uses gas for power, a star uses hydrogen for energy. Red dwarfs burn hydrogen very slowly, which means they generate little light compared to stars like the sun.Proxima Centauri is the closest star after the sun, but that doesnt necessarily mean its what we consider close in our minds. To completely understand how far away this star is, lets think about traveling 4.24 light-years away. NASA has built one of the fastest spacecrafts in existence, called New Horizons, which travels at about 60,000 kilometers per hour. Even at this speed, it would take the spacecraft 78,000 years to reach Proxima Centauri from Earth.Sadly, the first few closest stars are not visible to the naked eye at night, which means we cant see them while were stargazing from our homes or backyards. The closest star we can see at night is called Sirius, or the Dog Star. While Proxima Centauri is only 4.24 light-years away, Sirius is 8.6 light-years away. However, since Sirius is so large (almost twice the size of the sun), we can see it in the night sky.So go outside and see what you can find up there!
