A beautiful Place

I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.

This place is meaningful to me because it is part of the county I loved, is part of the county where I grew up and is part of my childhood. This place is in the country in an old region named Appalachia, a small piece of the Appalachian Mountains, in a town named Pikeville.

Pikeville is a polluted town because of the coal industry. People live in apartment or condominium buildings because of its little space available. I grew up in one of the many buildings in Pikeville admiring from my bedroom window the beauty of the mountains, always exploring with my eyes the forest or the meadows, looking for a clean and quiet place. And, I found one on a hill in the back of the town. It is about 100 feet square, it has seven old trees, wild flowers and a lot of bugs and ants during summer time.

I used to go there to sit down on a rock and watch the town and my trees. There was a very old tree, a maple tree, with a huge trunk. The others were smaller, three in the back, three on my left side and the old maple tree on my right. There were flowers, many kinds, white, yellow, purple and blue. It was nobody's place. Nobody owned that hill, but it was beautiful and peaceful and I dreamed many times about a white house over there.

I think that, these kinds of places are meaningful to people because they are natural and people can be there alone, away from their everyday life.

I used to go there to be alone or to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds. I liked to go there to lay down on the grass, listen to the wind, kiss the flowers and watch the leaves moving. It was hard to go up the hill to get there, but I wanted to see everyday my seven trees, to see how the color of the leaves changed and to feel the softness of the grass.

In Steinbeck’s article, he describes the experiences of migrant workers in the early twentieth century. How has migrant work changed in America over the decades? How do you think the experiences of migrant workers today compare to John Steinbeck’s depiction in the text? How does social status affect the way someone is treated by society? Why do some people have to struggle so much more than others in order to succeed? Cite examples from the text, your own experience, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.

Answers

The essay "Harvest Gypsies" written by Steinbeck had the aim of showing how the life of migrant rural workers in America was painful and difficult, with great challenges to be overcome.

Based on this essay, we can answer your questions as follows:

Over the decades, work for migrants has become more stable and less ostracized, but that does not mean that this work does not have problems that still need to be resolved.

Currently, migrants' jobs have better remuneration, greater security, and greater satisfaction for workers when compared to the same work in Steinbeck's description, as he describes an unsatisfactory and challenging job.

A person's social status influences how they are viewed and treated by society. People with low social status are decriminalized and seen as unworthy, unlike people with high social status, who are valued and celebrated.

Some people need to fight harder than others because of the inequality of resources. People with more social, economic, and political resources find it easier to achieve their goals than people with fewer resources, who need to work much harder.

Imagine your life in 2041. Write a 5-7 sentence paragraph reflecting on what you predict for yourself. Where will you be living? What will be your job? Will you have a family? What will the world be like?

Answer:

This is a personal paragraph, so try to re-word it so it sounds like you (so the teacher doesn't suspect anything)

Explanation:

2041, that's five presidents away from now. With that, a lot of things probably have changed, jobs, clothing, movies, life styles, a LOT of things would change. Looking at jobs in 20 years from now, I would probably work at some company, or some good job I'm at that pays around 60k-70k. Maybe currency has changed, it could all just be digital, or not, since it's only 20 years. I couldn't think how my family would look like since I'm not even 18 yet. I'm more of a present minded person, so I just hope things don't spiral out of control by the time of 2041

In the context of this text, how does war influence the use and content of propaganda? Why do you think it's important to a government to control the beliefs of its citizens during a time of conflict?

Answers

I am unsure of the context of this question, because it wasn’t given, but I will still do my best to answer. Was influences propaganda significantly. In times of war, propaganda is used to sway the opinions of the population. It’s used to get people to join the military, to villanize nationals, and to spread unfair biases. Governments make it a priority to control citizens beliefs during times of conflict, because unity is needed within a country in order to fight another country. They want to make sure they have enough support, and they want to prevent any sort of uprising against authority. The government doesnt want to have to focus on domestic affairs when we are having foreign conflict.

A. Parts of speech Follow the instructions given in the brackets for each question. 1. Alice had a quick wit. (Identify the adjective). 2. John looked ahead to certain inventions. (Identify the adverb)

Answers

Answer:

Alice had a [quick] wit.John looked [ahead] to certain inventions.

Explanation:

An adjective is a word that describes a person, place, thing, or concept. For example, “shiny”, “fluffy”, “slow”, “orange”, and “noisy” are all adjectives.

The first sentence is describing the nature of Alice's wit. To find the adjective, we need to find the word that describes what Alice's wit is like. Alice's wit is quick, which means that we need to put this word in parentheses.

Therefore, our answer is “Alice had a [quick] wit.”

In the second sentence, we need to identify the adverb. An adverb is a word that describes the way or manner in which an action is performed. Words like “quickly”, “silently”, “backwards”, “up”, and “simply” are adverbs.

We know that what John is doing in this sentence is looking. What we need to do is find a word that describes the way that John is looking. He'd looking ahead, so the second answer is “John looked [ahead] to certain inventions.”
