Dear Mr. Drew
First of all I want to congratulate you on how you have managed the school with mastery and honored the position of director, which you occupy. I could see how much you care about education and the training of students and that is why I am writing you this letter. I would like to inform you about the benefits of establishing classes that impose moral lessons for students.
This type of class will bring many benefits to students' academic training, as well as to their personal training and their positioning within society. This is because the moral lessons will stimulate students to think critically and rationally, it will improve their ability to direct between correct and incorrect situations and behaviors, providing personal growth, respect and improvement of their environment.
I would like to set up a meeting with you to talk more about the subject, but I can say that moral lessons will only have positive effects on students at our school.
Kind regards,
Jules Briim.

Read this excerpt from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. In the afternoon of that day, we reached Annapolis, the capital of the State. We stopped but a few moments, so that I had no time to go on shore. It was the first large town that I had ever seen, and though it would look small compared with some of our New England factory villages, I thought it a wonderful place for its size – more imposing even than the Great House Farm! Which of these is a true statement about travel during Douglass’s youth? Enslaved persons had few opportunities to travel and few experiences beyond their plantations. Enslaved persons often traveled to New England factories seeking a better way of life. Enslaved persons were encouraged to visit their state capitals when traveling between plantations.
