what is
pagoda. ( Ill mark brainiest for the best answer!)

Answers

Answer:

Have you ever been to a Japanese garden and wondered about the tall structure with many roofs? What is the significance of so many roofs? And more importantly, what is the building's function?

This monument of many roofs is called a pagoda. Its history can be traced back to the Indian stupa, a dome-shaped structure that served to enshrine the remains of rulers and other leaders. Though, following the death of the Buddha in the 5th century BCE, they became symbolic of the spread of Buddhism throughout Asia.

At first, the Buddha's ashes and bone fragments were divided and placed inside the stupas, but as Buddhism continued to spread, other items began to be used such as holy texts, precious items, and the ashes of other holy beings.

In China, the pagoda emerged taller and in a tiered configuration due to the influence of the existing architectural style at the time in contrast to its predecessor. In addition, the increased height was seen as more powerful and held significant meaning.

We are not going to make a PP presentation for you. What we can do is to give the information so you can include it in your presentation,

Context:

The founding fathers indeed had the best of intentions when they created the Electoral College to define elections. This could be valid at the end of the 1700s during the 1800s.

However, today, in the 2020s, things have radically changed. This is another United States and a completely different society.

Example:

We are going to choose the 2016 elections because is a good case about this topic.

According to the Electoral College, the Republican candidate Donald Trump won the electoral vote 304-227. The losing candidate was Democrat Hillary Clinton.

However, in the popular vote, Clinton won the election 65,853,514 vs 62, 984828.

Since that election and according to many experts, historians, scholars, journalists, former politicians, and public opinion leaders, the US needs to amend the Constitution to establish the popular vote as the winner of a presidential election.

People need to be trusted. Citizens are educated, have their criteria and their voices must be heard. In most modern democracies, the popular vote is the one that defines the winner of the election.

it really complement an outside partner or are you still alone?

Write a Answer about this question according to the book Chess, Stefan Zweig.

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

Chess is definitely a game to be played by two, and it is necessary that each participant has his own strategy and does not know the other's strategy, thus making the game exciting and unpredictable. It is impossible to play chess alone, so if an individual has managed to create two separate entities from himself and play a game of chess, that individual is not alone, but has managed to establish an external partner, who has fulfilled the requirements to play that game.

What powered the Industrial Revolution?

A. coal and wood
B. coal and steam
C. water power and wood
D. water power and steam

Answers

Answer:

d by British authorities. Francis Cabot Lowell, of Massachusetts, visited Britain from 1810 to 1812 and returned to set up the first power loom and the first factory combining mechanical spinning and weaving in the States. Railroad construction in America boomed from the 1830s to 1870s. The American Civil War (1861–65) was the first truly industrial war — the increasingly urbanized and factory-based North fighting against the agriculture-focused South — and industrialization grew explosively afterward. By 1900 the United States had overtaken Britain in manufacturing, producing 24 percent of the world’s output.

After 1870 both Russia and Japan were forced by losing wars to abolish their feudal systems and to compete in the industrializing world. In Japan, the monarchy proved flexible enough to survive through early industrialization. In Russia, a profoundly rural country, the czar and the nobility undertook industrialization while trying to retain their dominance. Factory workers often worked 13-hour days without any legal rights. Discontent erupted repeatedly, and eventually a revolution brought the Communist party to power in 1917.

Industrialized nations used their strong armies and navies to colonize many parts of the world that were not industrialized, gaining access to the raw materials needed for their factories, a practice known as imperialism. In 1800 Europeans occupied or controlled about 34 percent of the land surface of the world; by 1914 this had risen to 84 percent.

Britain led the 19th-century takeovers and ended the century with the largest noncontiguous empire the world has ever known. (“The sun never sets on the British Empire,” as the British liked to say.) Britain exerted great influence in China and the Ottoman Empire without taking over direct rule, while in India, Southeast Asia, and 60 percent of Africa, it assumed all governmental functions.

In the last decade of the 19th century most European nations grabbed for a piece of Africa, and by 1900 the only independent country left on the continent was Ethiopia. After World War II (1939–1945) Europe’s colonies demanded their independence, which didn’t always happen immediately or without conflict but eventually took root. Now, in the early 21st century, Brazil, China, and India are becoming economic powerhouses, while many European countries are enduring troubled economic times.

Consequences of the Industrial Revolution

The statistics that reflect the effects of industrialization are staggering. In 1700, before the widespread use of fossil fuels, the world had a population of 670 million people. By 2011 the world’s population had reached 6.7 billion, a 10-fold increase in a mere 300 years. In the 20th century alone, the world’s economy grew 14-fold, the per capita income grew almost fourfold, and the use of energy expanded at least 13-fold. This kind of growth has never before occurred in human history.

Many people around the world today enjoy the benefits of industrialization. With so much more energy flowing through human systems than ever before, many of us must do much less hard physical labor than earlier generations did. People today are able to feed more babies and bring them to adulthood. Many people vote and participate in modern states, which provide education, social security, and health benefits. Large numbers of people enjoy levels of wealth, health, education, travel, and life expectancy unimagined before industrialization.

The benefits of industrialization, however, have come at great cost. For one thing, the rate of change (acceleration) is now so rapid that individuals and social systems struggle to keep up. And strong arguments can be made about depersonalization in the age of mass production.

The increased complexity of the industrial system has also brought increased fragility. Industrialization depends on the interaction of many diverse components, any one of which could fail. We know that many of the essential components of the industrial system, and the natural resources it depends on, are being compromised — the soil, the oceans, the atmosphere, the underground water levels, plants, and animals are all at risk. Will growth continue unchecked, or are we approaching the end of an unsustainable industrial era? Whatever the future holds, we’ll be debating — and dealing with — the consequences of modernization for years to come.

After several legislation passed by the United States government, many Indian communities were relocated to specific locations. Apart from the immorality of depriving the land of the people who had lived there for centuries, the Indians also faced other problems. The natives thus lost the nomadic way of life they had led for centuries. There were problems with cultivating the land. Many natives did not know new agricultural techniques such as irrigation systems. Sometimes enemy tribes were located nearby, which caused the creation of additional tensions among the tribes.

Answers

how is vegetarianism good for the environment?

Livestock produces large amounts of greenhouse gases, mainly methane. These gases are causes of global warming to the greenhouse gas effect in which they are trapped in the earth's atmosphere and heat the surface. Vegetarianism would reduce the need for the copious amount of livestock present and the excess production of menthane as well as other harmful gases. Livestock also takes up a lot of land due to their feeding needs resulting in a large percent of food grown in the US not being for human consumption but rather for the livestock themselves. This can also lead to the release of more greenhouse gases due to the combustion within machines used for farming like tractors.

Think about factors of production; how does the government stimulate production? What are some of the steps that governments (like in the USA) can take to stimulate both consumer participation and entrepreneurship in the marketplace?

Answers

Answer:

The factors of production are labor, capital, and land.

The government can stimulate production by implementing expansionary fiscal and monetary policy. Expansionary fiscal policy consists in increasing government spending and/or lowering taxes. Expansionary monetary policy consists in lowering interest rates to stimulate investment, by increasing the money supply in the economy.

The US government often employs expansionary fiscal and monetary policy to boost the economy in times of when activity is lagging. It also implements other policies like promoting research, helping foster relations between the public sector, the academic sector, and the private sector in other to boost innovation, and granting cheap credits to entrepreneurs who have original ideas to test in the marketplace.

How are the roles of parents similar to the role of governments? Identify at least three similarities and be sure to explain the similarity. Write one full paragraph to explain this (minimum of 5 sentences)

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

The role of a parent/guardian is to guide, teach, protect, and support the child. This is similar to the role of governments in many ways. First, they both are there to protect people. Parents protect the children from injury and pain, and governments protect citizens from outside harms such as war, but mainly a government protects the rights of its citizens. Second, parents teach their children how to talk, walk, play, and love. A government can teach its citizens by way of example, (public) schools, and also sets the standards for graduation. Third, parents support their children by offering help, encouraging them, and ensuring that the child has the means to thrive on their own as an adult. The government provides support for its citizens by offering shelter, or benefits/assistance (food stamps, healthcare, unemployment benefits, etc).

1. Briefly share your thoughts as to why being aware of the existence of biases is important to critical thinking and necessary when doing research, when reviewing information, or when learning about the arguments of others.

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

When doing some kind of research, being aware of the existence of biases is very important to critical thinking in that any form of bias could distort the nature of the research, The same happens when scientists review information or decide to learn more about the arguments of others.

If researchers bias the information, it could be understood as if the researcher is manipulating the information or even worst, the results.

The process must be directed by the scientific method and the obligation of the researchers is to report the truth of the findings.

So ethics and high values must precede any research.

Furthermore, if biases are presented in the research, critical thinking can help to expose those biases and help the reader to identify them, explaining how this affects the process or the result of the research, inviting the reader to discern about the information exposed.
