What would the world be like with or without empathy?

Answers

Answer 1
Perhaps the ultimate loss in a world without empathy would be the loss of our own identities. We would exist but not really. Any emotion we have inside ourselves would have little use. It could never be understood or taken seriously nor would it connect us to others and essentially have no value.

Hope this helps :)

Which sentence is an example of personification?
a.The garden sprinklers whirled up in golden founts, filling the soft morning air with scatterings of brightness.
b.The dog ran upstairs, hysterically yelping to each door, at last realizing, as the house realized, that only silence was here.
c.At four o’clock the tables folded like great butterflies back through the paneled walls
d.The wind blew. A falling tree bough crashed through the kitchen window. Cleaning solvent, bottled, shattered over the stove

Answers

Answer:

c. At four o’clock the tables folded like great butterflies back through the paneled walls.

Explanation:

Personification is when an inanimate object is given the characteristics of a living thing. This means that when something that is not alive like stones or wood are given living attributes, making them look like they are alive, is known as personification.

Among the given examples, personification is seen in the sentence about the tables. Here, the tables are personified as "butterflies", capable of folding themselves like butterflies. The speaker states that "the tables folded like great butterflies", which is realistically impossible for a table to fold by itself.

Thus, the correct answer is option C.

Based on details in the poem, what can the reader infer about life in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina?

The poem: At first, there was nothing to do but watch.
For days, before the trucks arrived, before the work
of cleanup, my brother sat on the stoop and watched.
He watched the ambulances speed by, the police cars;
watched for the looters who’d come each day
to siphon gas from the car, take away the generator, the air conditioner, whatever there was to be had.
He watched his phone for a signal, watched the sky
for signs of a storm, for rain so he could wash.
10 At the church, handing out diapers and water,
he watched the people line up, watched their faces
as they watched his. And when at last there was work,
he got a job, on the beach, as a watcher.
Behind safety goggles, he watched the sand for bones,
searched for debris that clogged the great machines.
Riding the prow of the cleaners, or walking ahead,
he watched for carcasses—chickens mostly, maybe
some cats or dogs. No one said remains. No one
had to. It was a kind of faith, that watching:
my brother trained his eyes to bear
the sharp erasure of sand and glass, prayed
there’d be nothing more to see.

Answers

Answer:

peoples life began to become difficult, at first we can see they were mostly cleaning up, then watchers were put ot see if they could find bodies of any kind and had to bear as some who watched the beach saw dead things turn up. basically life became difficult and made it so they had to survive from the help of people coming in trucks

Explanation:

describe how you prepare your favourite meal

Answers

Answer:

Flank steak with cilantro lime jersey sweet potatoes is my favorite meal to make.

Explanation:

Before anything, take a stick of butter out of the refrigerator to soften.

Sweet potatoes - Preheat the oven to 400. Take three or four white jersey sweet potatoes and peel them. Dice them into bite-sized chunks and place them in a bowl.

In another little bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of yogurt (of your choice, just not flavored), the juice of three limes, two freshly chopped cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, 4 tablespoons of olive oil, and one chopped head of cilantro. Add this mixture to the sweet potato bowl and mix it around so everything gets coated properly.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and lay out the potatoes across them. Try not to overlap them too much, or they'll cook unevenly. Leave them in the oven for 30-35 minutes, depending on how hot your oven gets.

Flank - While the potatoes are in the oven, take the flank out of the package and lay it flat on a cutting board. Use a meat tenderizer and thoroughly tenderize the meat, making sure you get all the edges, not just the middle. Heat up a large pan on medium-high heat with 1/3 of a stick of butter. Place the entire slab of meat (without cutting it) inside the pan. When one side is brown, flip to the other side. When both sides of the flank are browned, take the pan off the heat and leave the meat in there to cook until medium-rare (about 10 minutes). If you have a meat thermometer, it should reach about 125 degrees F.

Steak Butter - While the meat is sitting in the pan, take a good portion of the softened butter you took out of the refrigerator and place it into a bowl. Add about four tablespoons of dried parsley and three tablespoons of oregano. Add a bit of salt and pepper, don't add too much salt if you are using salted butter. Add either some powdered garlic or fresh garlic chopped really small. Mix all of it together with your hands, it doesn't matter if it melts a bit because you're placing it back in the refrigerator. Shape it into a ball and put it in a serving dish. Cover and place in the refrigerator to harden. Cut up a lemon to use as a garnish.

Flank - When the flank is done resting in the pan, place it on a cutting board. You want to slice it across the grain in very, very thin slices. This way, any tough parts of the meat will be dealt with by your knife, rather than trying to chew through them. Carefully slide your knife under the cuts of meat and try to transfer all of them to your serving dish, this part takes a bit of practice.

Sweet Potatoes - You're potatoes should be done at this point. Take them out of the oven if you can easily slide a fork through them and they are lightly browned. The texture of country potatoes is what you're going for. If they have reached this point, lift them up with the parchment paper and dump them into a serving bowl. You can add some fresh cilantro as a garnish if you want to.

At this point, all the cooking is done. Place the meat, potatoes, lemon slices, and butter on the table. The butter is best slathered all over the meat. Enjoy! :D

Polar bears. The Arctic where polar bears live is huge — about twice the size of the continental United States. ... The global number of polar bears stands between 22,000 and 31,000, or a midpoint of 26,500. The simple fact is that polar bears are not going extinct. They are not becoming fewer and fewer. A polar bear is a great white northern bear (family Ursidae) found throughout the Arctic region. Except for one subspecies of grizzly bear, the polar bear is the largest and most powerful carnivore on land. It has no natural predators and knows no fear of humans, making it an extremely dangerous animal. The global polar bear population is currently about 26,000, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). That's a rough estimate, but scientists have determined with 95% certainty that between 22,000 and 31,000 polar bears exist on Earth today.
