what did Philip make dutch merchants (protestant) pay?

Answers

Answer:

The Dutch Revolt (1566–1648)[note 1] was the revolt in the Low Countries against the rule of the Habsburg King Philip II of Spain, hereditary ruler of the provinces. The northern provinces (the Netherlands) eventually separated from the southern provinces (present-day Belgium and Luxembourg), which continued under Habsburg Spain until 1714. The northern provinces adopted Calvinism and Republicanism whereas the southern provinces became wholly Catholic again due to the expulsion of Protestants and the efforts of the Counter-Reformation and remained under absolutist rule. The Dutch Revolt has been viewed as the seedbed of the great democratic revolutions from England, to America to France.[1]

The religious "clash of cultures" built up gradually but inexorably into outbursts of violence against the perceived repression of the Habsburg Crown. These tensions led to the formation of the independent Dutch Republic, whose first leader was William the Silent, followed by several of his descendants and relations. This revolt was one of the first successful secessions in Europe, and led to one of the first European republics of the modern era, the United Provinces. Due to the nature of the conflict, the factions involved, and changing alliances, modern-day historians have put forward arguments that the Dutch Revolt was also a civil war.[2]

King Philip was initially successful in suppressing the rebellion. In 1572, however, the rebels captured Brielle and the rebellion resurged. The northern provinces became independent, first in 1581 de facto, and in 1648 de jure. During the revolt, the United Provinces of the Netherlands, better known as the Dutch Republic, rapidly grew to become a world power through its merchant shipping and experienced a period of economic, scientific, and cultural growth. The Southern Netherlands (situated in modern-day: southern Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and northern France) remained under Spanish rule. The Dutch imposed a rigid blockade on the southern provinces that prevented Baltic grain from relieving famine in the southern towns, especially from 1587 to 1589. Despite achieving independence, from the end of the war in 1648 there was considerable opposition to the Treaty of Münster within the States General of the Netherlands since it allowed Spain to retain the Southern Provinces and permitted religious toleration for Catholics.[3]

The first phase of the Eighty Years War can be considered the Dutch Revolt. The focus of the latter phase was to gain official recognition of the already de facto independence of the United Provinces. This phase coincided with the rise of the Dutch Republic as a major power and the founding of the Dutch Empire.

What is your opinion about Texas to appeal judge's ban of new abortion

Answers

Answer:“Though the court’s ruling offers a sigh of relief, the threat of Texas’ abortion ban still looms over the state as cases continue to move through the courts. We already know the politicians behind this law will stop at nothing until they’ve banned abortion entirely,” Brigitte Amiri, deputy director of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project said in a statement. “This fight is far from over, and we’re ready to do everything we can to make sure every person can get the abortion care they need regardless of where they live or how much they make.”

Until Pitman's order, Texas' new law successfully flouted the constitutional right to have an abortion before fetal viability established by Roe v. Wade in 1973 and subsequent rulings. That’s because it leaves enforcement of the new restrictions not to state officials but instead to private citizens filing lawsuits through the civil court

The 2nd- and 3rd-century Christian church acted toward Judaism It encouraged anti-Semitism. The correct option is C. The Tanakh, or Bible, of the Jews, is the Old Testament of the Christians. Judaism and Christianity are two monotheistic, morally upright religions that have some of their scriptures in common.

When did Christianity move away from Judaism?

During the first century CE, there was a division between Judaism and Christianity. While the First Jewish-Roman War and the Second Temple's destruction in 70 CE were significant occasions, the division was a protracted process with ambiguous boundaries.

Judaism emphasizes the Oneness of God and rejects the idea of a human God as it is presented in Christianity. The Jewish New Testament is not recognized by Judaism, whereas Christianity accepts the Hebrew Bible also known as the Old Testament by Christians as a part of its canon of scripture.

Pretend that you are an historian and you discovered this painting in a place where a native African society once lived. What group do you think it represented and how can you tell?

Answers

Considering the painting, the group I would believe it represents is the Zulu group of Southern Africa.

This is because the shield is one of the major shields used among the Zulu people in Africa.

The shield, together with the spear, is the major weapon of the Zulu people before the civilization.

The Zulu people have different types of shields that are used for different purposes and have varying sizes.

Some of these types of shields include Isihlangu (the type represented in painting because it is the biggest of about 5ft high), Umbumbuluzo, Ihubelo, etc.

Hence, in this case, it is concluded that the Zulu group of Southern Africa is the group that is represented in the painting.
