In Chapter 15 of The Hummingbirds Daughter, Teresita is being taught what it means to be a lady and what it means to dream. She concludes that all of this is too complicated for her. She decides to stay away from Huila for some time. By the end of the chapter, she had had her first dream.
Huila on the other hand feels disappointed that Teresita is not catching up fast. The People think that Huila, an aged, respected, and outspoken healer, and midwife known as a curandera, not only has the capacity to cure but can also conjure spirits.
