I have always felt that the death penalty is the easy way out for the worst crimes, I believe that people should spend time in prison thinking about what they have done and living with the guilt and consequences. I have heard of homeless people committing crimes because they wanted to get arrested because in prison they get a roof over their head and they get fed and can shower. If people commit crimes on purpose just for the sole purpose of having a place to live, then the possibility of the death penalty might deter crime. However, those that get arrested on purpose usually do not commit crimes serious enough for the death penalty. After weighing all of this information, I come to the conclusion that the death penalty is mostly unnecessary and criminals should live with the guilt of what they have done while also having the option to turn their lives around, should they be willing to do so.
