Cesar Chavez, a great American hero, was a civil rights, Latino, and agricultural labour leader; a deeply devout and spiritual man; a community organiser and entrepreneur; a proponent of militant peaceful social change; and a warrior for the environment and customer rights for farm workers.

During the Great Depression, his family Lost their land and became migrant agricultural labourers when he was 11 years old. Cesar dropped out of school after the grade 8 and went to work in the fields full-time to support his family.

He is most famous for his work in the 60s and 70s when he organized strikes and boycotts against working conditions on farms and plantations.
