Which event foreshadows a conflict between Ralph and Jack in Lord of the Flies?

A. Jack's enthusiasm for hunting the island's pigs

B. Ralph's insistence on keeping a signal fire lit

C. Jack's claim that he should be chief

D. Ralph's insistence on letting Piggy keep track of the conch

Its for K-12

Answers

Answer:

its C

Explanation:

The conflict between Ralph and Jack is one of the most important ones in the book. As the children are trying to figure out how to better govern themselves, they have some struggles with power. One episode that foreshadows this conflict occurs when Jack claps sarcastically after Ralph is elected chief.

Hope this helps

Jack's claim that he should be chief event foreshadows a conflict between Ralph and Jack in Lord of the Flies Thus, option C is correct.

What is a Lord of the Flies?

A plane that crashed at an undiscovered location at the start of the following major conflict leaves a bunch of schoolchildren stranded. As they are so far from society and have no parental guidance, the guys' independence initially makes them happy because they can do whatever they please.

The dream of excitement appears to be remote from actuality and also as promise like being saved as discipline crumbles, unearthly screams resound inside the darkness, and horror begins to rule.

Among the biggest and most significant conflicts throughout the novel is the relationship between both Ralph and Jack. These youngsters fight with authority because they work to fully understand how or when to administer properly.  Jack's mock applause following Ralph is appointed chief clearly suggests this clash between them as both of them wanted to be the chief.

Therefore, option C is the correct option.

Read this passage from "Types of Volcanoes" and then look at the image.

Volcanoes are structures formed around openings (vents) in the ground where molten lava, ash, or gas escape from inside the Earth. We have all heard of lava, but not everyone knows how it forms. Deep inside the Earth, rock that melted long ago beneath the Earth's crust forms magma, a very hot liquid that mixes with dissolved gases and crystals. When this magma flows up above Earth's surface, it is called lava.

Explanation:

A prophecy, or prophecies in general, is a prediction of events about to happen in the future. Prophecies can appear in a number of ways, but almost all are cryptic and their true meaning will not become clear until after the events of the prophecy have come to pass. Also, those with the ability to see the future are unable to reveal what a prophecy means, as giving the answer would make the answer irrelevant (meaning that the events in the prophecy could change if the events are told). It is also said that trying to figure out what a prophecy means or trying to force a prophecy to come to pass may result in disaster.

The most common way for a prophecy to be told is from an oracle, most notably the Oracle of Delphi. Even in ancient times, people would come from all over Greece and beyond to see the Oracle, who would speak the prophecies of Apollo. Over time the spirit of the Oracle went from host to host, eventually arriving in America.

Why do persuassive essays use facts and opinions? While stories arouse their feelings and prompt them to act, facts help to justify a purchase, gift, decision, change in behavior … whatever action is taken. When you present facts, you help the more emotional reader validate her decision. This one-two punch is a powerful persuasive writing technique.Opinions backed up with evidence help lead the reader along the writer's pathways of thought; making the writing more convincing as a whole. This evidence can take a wide variety of forms, ranging from personal anecdotes and quotations to statistics and references to scientific studies.

AC vs. DC
In the 1880s, the War of the Currents began. Thomas Edison developed direct current, or DC, a type of electricity that flows in one direction. By 1887, DC was in use around the United States. It had some drawbacks, though. Converting it to lower or higher voltages was difficult; that is, the current's force couldn't be changed easily. Transmitted at the low voltage needed for use in homes and businesses, it lost power after traveling only a mile. Meanwhile, Nikola Tesla was working with alternating current, or AC. AC reverses direction many times per second and can be changed to different voltages. At high voltage, it can be transmitted efficiently, traveling hundreds of miles with little energy loss. Because of its advantages, AC triumphed by the end of the nineteenth century.

What is the main idea of the passage?

AC has distinct advantages over DC, so AC won the War of the Currents.

AC reverses direction and can be converted to lower or higher voltage.

What is the main idea?

Answers

Answer: "AC has distinct advantages over DC, so AC won the War of the currents."

The main and the central idea about the passage is (1)AC has distinct advantages over DC, so AC won the War of the Currents.

Explanation:

The given passage talks about the War between Currents.

There are two types of currents being talked about- DC and AC. The passage tells us that the use of DC was prevalent in the 18th centaury and after development of the AC current, it took over DC and was then used all over the world because it had distinct advantages.

Therefore, the main idea of the passage is AC has distinct advantages over DC, so AC won the War of the Currents.

Human Activity and Earthquakes
When Americans think of earthquakes, they tend to think of California, a state known for its frequent seismic activity. In recent years, however, people in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas have been feeling the ground shake more often. An increase in oil and gas drilling in these states has led to "human-induced" earthquakes—those resulting from human activity. When wastewater is disposed of during gas and oil drilling, the water is forced deep underground. The resulting buildup of pressure can cause fault lines (cracks in the earth's crust) to shift. According to Mark Petersen, head of the U.S. Geological Survey's earthquake hazard mapping project, "In the past five years, the USGS has documented high shaking and damage in areas of these six states, mostly from induced earthquakes."

What is the main idea of the passage?

An increase in oil and gas drilling has caused a corresponding increase in earthquakes in six states.

Residents of six U.S states have experienced an increase in earthquake activity in recent years.

Imagine something fantastic and begin to write a story about this subject using hyperbole and language that conveys mood. Be mindful of what kind of feeling or what sort of mood you want your readers to experience.

Answers

Answer:

Jade Ann had always loved cosy Oxford with its late, little lakes. It was a place where she felt calm.

She was a wild, courageous, cocoa drinker with beautiful face and brunette lips. Her friends saw her as a late, little Lawyer. Once, she had even helped a mashed kitten cross the road. That's the sort of woman he was.

Jade walked over to the window and reflected on her sunny surroundings. The sun shone like skipping horses.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Martins Justyce. Martins was a daring coward with curvy face and 5’4 lips.

Jade gulped. She was not prepared for Martins.

As Jade stepped outside and Martins came closer, she could see the bitter glint in his eye.

Martins gazed with the affection of 9758 gentle proud puppies. He said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want closure."

Jade looked back, even more excited and still fingering the peculiar kettle. "Martins, you must think I was born yesterday," she replied.

They looked at each other with surprised feelings, like two keen, kooky kittens cooking at a very adorable holiday, which had jazz music playing in the background and two clever uncles swimming to the beat.

Jade regarded Martins's curvy face and 5’4 lips. "I feel the same way!" revealed Jade with a delighted grin.

Martins looked happy, his emotions blushing like a bad, bored book.

Then Martins came inside for a nice mug of cocoa.
