Answer:
Scary Story Element: scopophobia
Choices for Your Scary Story: invisibility, imagination, hallucination
Likable main character(s): Conner Murphy and Evan Hansen
Opposing Settings: Midnight at the orchard tree
"Something's Not Quite Right": Evan "accidentally" falls from the branch on the tree in the orchard and nobody is there to give him the physical presence he needs/wants in order to get back up again. Conner tries to reach out to Evan and grabs his hand to help Evan up from the ground, but slowly realizes that he doesn't have that ability.
UH-OH: Evan recognizes that he is alone and nobody is there because Conner has only been a figure of his imagination and the human being that he believed he saw at the beginning was just a hallucination. Conner is completely shattered because he wishes that he could reach out and help Evan since he was once in the position that Evan is in now, but he is dead.
Scary story "regulars": a ghost
Ending: Evan gets up and leans against one side of the orchard tree while Conner leans against the opposite side of the orchard tree.
Explanation:
Title: Trick or True
Scary Story:
Evan heard a terrible noise that startled him out of his spiraling thoughts as he lay on his bed. He reluctantly swings his legs out of bed and then forces the rest of his body up out of bed. His body is shaking already from the oncoming panic attack that he felt moments before it was going to occur began to increase into a tremble. He gulps a few times in fear, but because he knows that he won't fall asleep unless he identifies the noise, he changes into his striped long-sleeved shirt and comfy ombre blue sweatpants. To not disturb his mother from her sleep since she has work in a few hours, Evan opened his window and stepped out of it. As he felt a cool breeze from the wind, he gets a strong urge in his gut, telling him to walk to the orchard. He carefully maneuvers himself down the pole that his father had built for him before he left. When he landed safely on the ground, he started the fifteen-minute walk to the orchard.
Meanwhile, Conner was walking deliberately towards the orchard because he felt clastrophobic within the house that he was supposed to call home. It took him about thirteen minutes to arrive at the location.
Evan and Conner weren't looking where they were going, so they accidentally collided together.
"Sorry..." Conner muttered underneath his breath.
Evan stared directly at Conner, too afraid to speak. He widened his eyes at the sight of Conner. Then, he bite his lower lip and cautiously backed away from him, heading toward the orchard tree.
"Coward." Conner rolled his eyes, striding a few feet across from the orchard tree.
The thought of the noise at his house escaped from Evan's mind as he gazed up at the infinite amount of stars scattered throughout the midnight sky.
"Pretty, ain't it?" Conner asked Evan, his arms folded across his chest as he stared at the midnight sky as well.
Evan absentmindedly nodded his head in agreement. He looked at the orchard tree that his gut told him to go to, taking in all of the branches. A memory of him climbing trees when he was younger came and went in a flash within his mind. He decided to climb the tree. As he started to climb the tree with instincts of where to put his foot surprising him a bit, Conner called out to him.
"Don't look down." He took a couple of steps back every time that Evan went up higher and higher.
Unfortunately, the courage that Evan had at the beginning, gradually faded. His fear of everything came rushing back to him and he froze. Scrambling to a branch that appeared thick to Evan, he clutched onto that for dear life.
He squinted his eyes and saw the blurry version of Conner before losing his balance on the branch and falling to the ground. He felt like the falling happened in slow motion, but when he roughly hit the ground with his left arm in a painful position, it was swift yet such a slow burn.
Conner hurried to Evan's side with a smirk but concerned eyes. He bent down to touch Evan's left hand, planning to help him up, but an agonizing sound came out of his mouth, so Conner gently pulled his hand back. When Evan regained his eyesight back, the darkness surrounding him felt empty and numb. He blinked a few times. Conner waved his hand in front of Evan's face, but when Evan didn't react in an expected way one would expect when someone is in their face, Conner held his hand with renewed sadness.
Nobody could see him. And then he remembered how he died. He was simply a ghost.
With this realization, Conner felt like crud. He stumbled to the other side of the orchard tree. The sudden fierce wind silenced his suffocating screams. Evan eventually struggled to crawl and lean against the nearest part of the orchard tree. The abrupt violent wind disguised his distressed cries.
They were both invisible and that scared them more than anything.

Analyze why it is important to consider the audience and their purpose in a text?
Answer:
The audience is a key component of writing as they are the ones to interpret your text. If they don't understand it because it is too complex or simple, they can't analyze it. For example, you can't give a second grader a college essay and expect them to understand. And vise versa, you can't talk to college students like they are two-year-olds.
Also, think about what you want your audience to think, if you want to persuade them, write a persuasive essay, etc.

What idea about humanity is conveyed in both "Anti-Social Networks? We're Just as Cliquey Online" and "This Is Not Who We Are"?
The idea about humanity conveyed in both "Anti-Social Networks? We're Just as Cliquey Online" by Laura Sydell and "This Is Not Who We Are" by Naomi Shihab Nye is that humanity still has the potential to work for love, happiness, and peace, and rise in condemnation of evil by maintaining deeper dialogue and greater understanding.
In Laura's "Anti-Social Networks? We're Just as Cliquey Online," she notes that while social media have become "echo chambers," they can reinforce old biases and create new relationships. But we must seek greater perspective, understanding that one gets what one seeks from social media, which provide information based on Artificial Intelligence.
Nye's "This Is Not Who We Are" re-echos that people should not be judged by the actions of some misguided others because truly "this is not who we are." She believes people view changes from many perspectives. So, there is no best perspective. We must continue to seek dialogue and understanding in all human events.
Thus, the idea about humanity common to both texts is the need for deeper dialogue and greater understanding among different peoples.
