Answers

At the start of chapter 3 we come upon Jack looking withinside the forest. He has been unsuccessful in his enterprise for this reason far.

His presence frightens a hen that flies off, uttering a "harsh cry" because it goes. The sound startles Jack and he pulls back. At this second Jack reacts out of intuition in preference to reason. The extract alludes to the concept that human beings will reply to their private senses whilst threatened.

Jack is converted into an animal. The hiss he utters is likened to the sound a snake makes whilst it's miles in danger. He becomes, for a short second, a "thing"—a creature rationale on self preservation. He has momentarily misplaced the rational wondering abilities a hunter could use whilst monitoring prey. The connection with him being "ape-like" reinforces the photo of an animal-like state. Jack has instinctively related together along with his internal beast.

A Big Year
By Bob Kowalski

Would you go to the ends of the earth to see a bird? What if it were a really special bird: one with beautiful feathers, an entrancing call, or a silly dance? What if seeing that one special bird would allow you to win a contest?

If that contest doesn't get you on television or win you any cash prizes, would you still do it? For those who participate in the "Big Year," the honor of beating the previous record is the only reward they get or even want.

A "Big Year" is a year in which a person attempts to see as many different species of birds as possible within a particular region. For most in North America who participate in a "Big Year," this region is the lower 48 American states, plus Alaska, Canada, and a couple of French islands off the Canadian coast.

You may be thinking that looking at birds is silly, but just think about the numbers of the recent record holders and the commitment it takes to get these numbers. One recent "Big Year" winner managed to see 744 birds in one year, missing the record by just one bird. Big Year birders travel by train, plane, boat, car, bicycle, and of course, by foot. They can cover over 150 thousand miles to get numbers of sightings this high. They can also spend a small fortune.

Just to clarify, the birds these contestants are counting are the number that they see in a particular year. You see, the contest is based on an honor system. No pictures or other evidence is required as proof of a sighting. Most birders take great pride in their reputation and their abilities to see or hear and then identify a bird. Usually, important sightings of the rare birds needed to get counts in the 700s are visited by hundreds of birders. It is pretty hard to cheat your way to a record-breaking year, but in general, few are interested in cheating.

This honesty comes from the fact that most people who want to break such a record know the greatest rewards are not necessarily in winning. Such rewards are in being able to commit a year of your life to doing something you love. Rewards are found in seeing amazing, inspiring creatures like the California Condor or the Magnificent Frigate bird. Rewards also come in spending time with people who, like you, want to spend their time looking to the skies and trees for glimpses of emerald, crimson, or cerulean blue feathered jewels.

You don't have to be able to travel a continent to have a big birding experience though. Have a big month. Or a big weekend. Set a personal record, learn to identify the species that live in your part of the world, or try to learn the calls of just two species of birds. You will soon find looking at birds isn't such a strange way to spend your time.

Extra! Extra! Backyard Birding
Many schools, families, and young birders across the country participate in the "Great Backyard Bird Count." While not as long as a "Big Year," the "Great Backyard Bird Count" happens every year. It depends on birders and families across the country to watch feeders and other areas in their yards and count the number of birds they see. Unlike the "Big Year," the goal is not to see who can count the most birds. Instead, participants in this event work together to help bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing. Participants are given checklists and enter their sightings on a website. Called a "citizen-science" project, this event is open to anyone, requires no travel, and happens every year over one weekend in February.

A story as well as narrative is a coherent sequence of events that is communicated through language—either written or spoken—imagery—both still and moving—body language—performance—music—or any other method of communication. It doesn't matter what the subject matter, genre, or style of the story is; it can be about any of it, and the events it describes could be real or made up. Every subject and every era—past, present, and future—have stories to tell. No matter whatever the subject or the timeframe of the events, whenever you tell someone about a sequence of them, you are telling a story. Storytelling is one of the oldest and most significant aspects of life, and it has great value for human culture.

This is exemplified by the main character, Robert, who learns that his own selfish and reckless behavior has caused him to experience the consequences of his own poor decisions. What eventually causes John Proctor's downfall? Explain using evidence from the text.

Answers

In Arthur Miller's play "The Crucible," John Proctor's downfall is ultimately caused by his refusal to comply with the demands of the Salem witch trials. Proctor is a farmer who is accused of practicing witchcraft and is subsequently brought before the court.

One of the main causes of Proctor's downfall is his stubbornness and refusal to confess to a crime he did not commit. Despite being offered leniency if he confesses and testifies against others, Proctor refuses to go along with the lies and manipulation of the court. He believes that confessing would mean admitting to a sin he did not commit, and he is not willing to compromise his integrity and reputation in this way.

Another factor in Proctor's downfall is his affair with Abigail Williams, which is used against him by the court as evidence of his guilt. Proctor's relationship with Abigail was seen as a betrayal of his wife, Elizabeth, and was used as a weapon against him in the court proceedings.

Finally, Proctor's downfall is also caused by the corrupt and manipulative nature of the Salem witch trials themselves. The court is willing to do whatever it takes to secure convictions, even if it means fabricating evidence and coercing false confessions. In this context, it becomes nearly impossible for Proctor to clear his name and avoid being found guilty.

Overall, John Proctor's downfall is the result of his refusal to go along with the lies and corruption of the Salem witch trials, as well as the consequences of his affair with Abigail Williams.

This lesson is an important one for Scout, as it helps her to understand that everyone has their own experiences, perspectives, and motivations, and that it is important to try and see things from others' viewpoints in order to truly understand them. This lesson helps Scout to become more empathetic and understanding, and to recognize the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, even when she doesn't agree with them.

What is expression?
Your facial expression, whether it's sad, happy, bored, or amused, conveys something. Unless you're adept at concealing your emotions, your expression reveals to others how you're feeling. Expression can still be used in this way because its Latin etymology is "to press out." Your juicer aids in the expression of the fruit's juice when you make fresh orange juice. A person has engaged in artistic self-expression when they use their work to share their feelings about the outside world. What's up? is an example of an expression that we use to express ourselves.

First, we will rationalize the expression 1/√5 - √2. To do this, we multiply both sides of the expression by the conjugate of the denominator, which is √5 + √2. This yields:
(1/√5 - √2) * (√5 + √2) = (1*√5 + 1*√2 - √5*√2 - √2*√2)
Simplifying the right side of the equation, we get:
(1/√5 - √2) * (√5 + √2) = (1 + 2 - 5)
Therefore, the rationalized expression is equal to -4/√5.
Now, we can subtract this rationalized expression from √5 - √2. This yields:
√5 - √2 - (-4/√5) = √5 - √2 + (4/√5)
Simplifying the right side of the equation, we get:
√5 - √2 + (4/√5) = (5 + 4)/√5
Therefore, the result of subtracting the rationalized expression 1/√5 - √2 from √5 - √2 is (5 + 4)/√5.

What is the weirdest experience you had? BE TRUTHFUL Write a program that computes an integer's checksum. To compute the checksum, break the integer into its constituent digits and, working from right to left, doubling every second digit. If the product results in a number with two digits, treat those two digits independently. Then, sum all the digits for the final checksum. For example, 1496 has a checksum of 21. We compute this by first breaking 1496 into constituents and doubling the ever second digit => 6, 18, 4, 2. Then, the individual digits are summed as 6 + (1 + 8) + 4 + 2 = 21.
