Personal philosophy paper students with a learning disability and ADHD

Students I Desire to Serve-These four values loyalty, compassion, dedication, and respect are values that I think everyone should consider following. This is especially true if you wish to work with children with disabilities. When working with children I feel that it's important to have at least some of these values. Even though, education is not my first career choice. I knew I always wanted to work with children in a medical environment. In the future, I want to be a Child Life Specialist. If I had to pick the students I would like to work with, they would be ages 4 to probably 8. At a
elementary grade level, with a learning disability or Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADHD). I have a learning disability and ADHD. So, I know what it's like overcoming obstacles and constantly having to prove yourself to other people. Helping children who are experiencing similar difficulties that I personal experiences is very important to me.

Instructional Strategies-The two strategies that I would use if I had a classroom would be direct instruction and Direct instruction is an instructor directed strategy. It is useful for providing information or developing step-by-step skills. Some examples are lectures, questioning, explicit teaching, and demonstrations (Instructional strategies: Literacy basics).

To develop this skill, I plan to actively participate in professional development workshops and seminars that focus on collaborative teamwork, engage in collaborative projects or case studies with other professionals, and seek opportunities to collaborate with other professionals in my school or community.

Assistive Technology: Assistive technology tools, such as text-to-speech software, graphic organizers, and visual aids, can greatly support students with learning disabilities and ADHD in accessing and processing information. To enhance my proficiency in using assistive technology, I plan to take relevant courses or workshops, explore and experiment with different assistive technology tools, and seek guidance from experienced professionals or specialists in the field of special education and assistive technology.

Personal Philosophy of Education: My personal philosophy of education is based on the belief that every student deserves to receive an inclusive, equitable, and empowering education that recognizes and addresses their unique strengths, challenges, and individuality. I believe in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and supported. I also believe in fostering a collaborative partnership among students, teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the holistic development and success of every student.

In my classroom, I would strive to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that are differentiated to meet the diverse needs of my students. I would incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction and differentiated instruction, to cater to the individual learning needs and styles of my students. I would also emphasize the use of assistive technology as a powerful tool to support the learning and independence of students with learning disabilities and ADHD.

Therefore, my philosophy of education is centered on promoting inclusive practices, fostering collaborative teamwork, and empowering students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and support to succeed in their academic and personal endeavors. I am committed to continuously developing my professional skills and knowledge to best serve my students with learning disabilities and ADHD, and to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
