omar will run at least 28 miles this week, so far he has run 12 miles. What are the possible numbers of additional miles he will run? use t for the number of additional miles he will run white your answer as an inequality solved for t

Answers

Answer 1

The inequality that will define Omar's run is 12 + m ≥ 28.

An inequity is what?

An inequality in algebra is a mathematical statement that employs the inequality symbol to show how two expressions relate to one another. The phrases on either side of an inequality symbol are not equal. The phrase on the left should be larger or smaller than the expression on the right, or vice versa, according to this symbol. Relationships between two algebraic expressions that are represented by the inequality symbols are known as literal inequalities. The relationship is known as an inequality when the symbols ">", "", "", or "" are used to link two real numbers or algebraic expressions.

For this issue, it is said that Omar would run at least 28 miles this week; he may run more, but 28 miles is his minimum objective.

He had already covered 12 miles.

Afterward, the inequality symbol will be "."

The inequality is therefore 12 + m 28.

Using the figure below, Maggie used the definition of vertical angles to help her solve for x. Since vertical angles are congruent, she set the two given expressions equal to each other. After solving for x, her teacher said she got the wrong value for x. Explain where Maggie made her mistake when solving for x.

Answers

Using vertical angles, Maggie made her mistake when combining the like terms of x, which has a result of -3x and not 3x, hence the correct result is of x = 9.

What are vertical angles?

Vertical angles are two angles that are opposite by the same vertex when two lines cross each other, and they are congruent, that is, they have the same measure.

For this problem, the vertical angles are given as follows:

4x + 2.7x - 25.

Since they are congruent, we can solve for the variable x as follows:

4x + 2 = 7x - 25.

Moving all the terms with x to the left side of the equality and all the constant terms to the right side, with opposite signal, we have that:

4x - 7x = -25 - 2

Combining the like terms, it is found that:

-3x = -27.

Here happened Maggie's mistake, as 4x - 7x = -3x, hence the correct solution is given by:

3x = 27

x = 27/3

x = 9.

a) The tree diagram is given by the image at the end of the answer.

b) The probability is of 0.18 = 18%.

c) The probability is of 0.72 = 72%.

What is a probability?

A probability is calculated as the number of desired outcomes in the experiment divided by the number of total outcomes in the experiment.

For item a in this problem, we have two independent events, hence the tree diagram will contain two nodes, one with each event and it's probabilities.

For item b, since the events are independent, to find the probability of both, we multiply the probability of each, hence:

0.3 x 0.6 = 0.18.

For item c, first we find the probability of none being completed, hence:

(1 - 0.3) x (1 - 0.6) = 0.7 x 0.4 = 0.28.

At least one is complementary to none, hence the probability is given as follows:

p = 1 - 0.28 = 0.72 = 72%.

a farmer is building a fence to enclose a rectangular area consisting of 2 separate regions. the 4 walls and one additional vertical segment to separate the regions are made up of fencing. if the farmer has 648 feet of fencing what are the dimensions of the region which enclose the maximum area?

Answers

The dimensions of the region which enclose the maximum area is a side of 162 feet and vertical segment of 108 feet

What is an equation?

An equation is an expression that shows the relationship between two or more numbers and variables.

Let x represent the side parallel to the vertical segment and y represent the other side. If the farmer has 648 feet of fencing, hence:

x + x + y + y + x = 648

3x + 2y = 648

y = 324 - 1.5x

Area (A) = xy

A = xy

A = x(324 - 1.5x)

A = 324x - 1.5x²

The maximum area is at A' = 0, hence:

A' = 324 - 3x

324 - 3x = 0

3x = 324

x = 108 feet

y = 324 - 1.5(108) = 162 feet

n(5)  = -1

The function is n(x)= [tex]-1-\frac{1}{3}x+1\frac{2}{3}[/tex]

The function is an equation which expression the relationship between one variable and another variable. If one variable is independent variable then another variable will be dependent variable.

The function is n(x)= [tex]-1-\frac{1}{3}x+1\frac{2}{3}[/tex]  when x= -2,0 and 5

Here we have to substitute the value of x in the given function

Answer: c

Step-by-step explanation:

The solution set for the inequality is p > -9.4. See attachment below for the graph.

How to Graph the Solution Set for an Inequality?

An open circle is used when the inequality sign involved is ">" or "<". That is, it is used for numbers that are less than or greater than.

An arrow shaded to the right means the solution set is greater than a given value, while an arrow shaded to the left means the solution set includes all values that are less than a given value.

Given the inequality, p + 3.6 > −5.8, solve for p:

p + 3.6 > −5.8

Subtract 3.6 from both sides

p + 3.6 - 3.6 > -5.8 - 3.6

p > -9.4

The bottom row of the pile has 25 apples and the top row has 9. Each row has 4 less apples than the row below. How many apples are in the pile? Nights and DragonsFrom the memoir of author Abigail Prynne1I sit at my desk listening to thunder growl outside my window. Flashes of light burst through the darkness, and wind races past my window. The thrilling combination of sight and sound conjures up visions of dragons roaring proudly, breathing fire, and soaring across the midnight sky. Dragons first fascinated me when I was a little girl. They have followed me ever since. The magnificent creatures appeared in storybooks I read in the library, paintings I saw in museums, movies I watched in the theater, and the dreams I had in my sleep. By the time I was thirteen, one question consumed me. I wanted to know if dragons ever existed, so I set out on a quest for facts.2As I started my research, I discovered many skeptics. Scientists presented evidence to show why dragons could notand did notexist. They explained that it would be impossible for dragons to fly because they would be too big. They laughed at the idea of dragons breathing fire. They pointed out that no other animal has ever done this. They said that if dragons had lived, someone would have found remains somewhere in the world. No bones about it, there were plenty of logical explanations. It would have been easy for me to accept that the only place dragons ever existed was in the imaginations of those who believed.3I could have given up, but I thought about my grandmother. She always told me that "people who believe that science is the answer to everything are missing out on everything else." With her words in mind, I searched some more. There were many facts that hinted that dragons may not be fictional. I noticed that cultures across the world all described dragons in similar ways. This was odd because they had no way to communicate with each other. I found dragons mentioned in more than just stories. They appeared in old legal papers, in the travel logs of Marco Polo, and in the Bible. I saw that the Chinese calendar uses a different animal each year. Dragons are included along with eleven real animals. I began to believe it was a real possibility that all of these people were talking about a creature that actually existed.4With renewed hope that there was some truth to the legends, I looked for new research. I found that some experts disagreed with popular arguments against dragons. They suggested that a dragon could have four stomachs like a cow. If it created stomach gases like birds, it might create enough to lift itself off the ground. This would give it the ability to fly. If it forced out air when diving toward the earth, it might release gases which could ignite into flame. When the animal died, the stomachs would release strong acids that would dissolve its dead body over time. Biologists backed up these ideas with sketches and models based on known animals. Not everyone agreed with these ideas, but many of the things we accept about dinosaurs and other extinct species started the same way.5I doubt we will ever truly know whether dragons existed. There may always be two sides to the fiery debate. Some will say the stories come from active imaginations. Some will believe with all their hearts that the legendary creatures roamed our ancient world. I don't know for certain which side to believe, but the sound and fury of a night like this makes me smile. It rekindles my childhood dreams and keeps the exciting possibility alive.Which best states the main idea of the text? 1.
