junk food shouldn't be banned essay

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Junk Food Should Not Be Banned At School

Government and schools authorities care much about the nutrition at school. However, they are arguing about whether school should keep selling junk food or not. So far, some people have been expressing their opinions saying that junk food should be banned at school. Others think that junk food should not be banned at school. Junk food should not be banned at school because junk foods are inexpensive, students prefer freedom of choice, and school food keeps children coming to school.

The first reason why junk food should not be banned at school is that junk foods are inexpensive. The reason why junk foods are popular is that junk foods are cheap and available at any time (Hollingsworth 31). For instance, what is called “junk food” is somewhat helping some students to survive. In fact, there are different types of students in school. Some are coming from rich families while others come from poor families. Basically, they have different financial capacities to afford school meals. For example, a student who comes to school with three dollars is likely to buy the food that will satisfy his hunger rather than the one that is supposed to be good. As matter of fact, in school students eat to fulfill themselves to obtain the strength to keep focused in class. For example, students will buy a combo of burger with a can of soda, and a little cookie. In sum, junk foods are indispensable in schools because some students cannot afford to buy healthy foods.

The second reason why junk food should not be banned in schools is that students prefer to be free when they eat their meals. Furthermore, students like to eat things they have watched on TV or seen from a friend. For example, a student who saw his friend the day before with a meal that smelled good to him; is likely to buy the same thing as his friend the next day. Basically, preventing this student from buying the food he has planning to buy will frustrate him.

Answers

Everyone agrees that roads are crucial. They bind us to our friends, neighborhood, place of employment, and leisure. They enable us to explore fascinating new places hundreds of kilometers away as well as find nearby hidden gems within a few miles. Modern life obviously requires our roadways, but the effects of poor road quality aren't usually immediately apparent. Even though a road is still passable for travel, its surface quality and structural soundness have a significant impact on cars, drivers, and the general public. According to a 2020 study by the National Transportation Research Group, bad roads can cost a single vehicle up to $2,900 in damages annually.

Roadway management is crucial in order to maximize transportation funds and extend the lifespan of roads, as well as because road condition has a big impact on local residents quality of life. Noise, pedestrian safety, changes in property value, and changes in visual quality, according to Frokenbrock and Weisbrod of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, "are all inextricably linked to the opportunities for—and, perhaps more importantly, the quality of—social life within a neighborhood". Poorly maintained roads can have an impact on many aspects of everyday life, both directly and indirectly, ranging from causing traffic jams to gradually decreasing property values. Studies have also indicated that transportation-related investments frequently signify development, inspiring a sense of pride and accomplishment in the community's residents.

Building new highway networks and expanding the number of roads "could improve the quality of life for local residents, enhance the ability of the community to attract new business investment, and ultimately also raise property values," according to the Transportation Research Board, but this does not imply that only new roads are important. A well-maintained existing infrastructure demonstrates that the community's current social and economic well-being is as vital to the city's future prosperity. The good news is that there are plans to assist both the existing and emerging road networks. A county's roads can be consistently maintained and ready for many years to come by combining pavement preservation measures and using a system to collect real-time road quality information. Unfortunately, when it comes to road maintenance, the saying "If it ain't busted, don't fix it" doesn't entirely apply. To keep their roads operating efficiently, county decision-makers must make wise choices.

Once upon a time, a mouse, a bird, and a sausage, entered into partnership and set up house together. For a long time all went well; they lived in great comfort, and prospered so far as to be able to add considerably to their stores. The bird's duty was to fly daily into the wood and bring in fuel; the mouse fetched the water, and the sausage saw to the cooking.
When people are too well off, they always begin to long for something new. And so it came to pass, that the bird, while out one day, met a fellow bird, to whom he boastfully expatiated on the excellence of his household arrangements. But the other bird sneered at him for being a poor simpleton, who did all the hard work, while the other two stayed at home and had a good time of it. For, when the mouse had made the fire and fetched in the water, she could retire into her little room and rest until it was time to set the table. The sausage had only to watch the pot to see that the food was properly cooked, and when it was near dinner-time, he just threw himself into the broth, or rolled in and out among the vegetables three or four times, and there they were, buttered, and salted, and ready to be served. Then, when the bird came home and had laid aside his burden, they sat down to table, and when they had finished their meal, they could sleep their fill till the following morning: and that was really a very delightful life.
Influenced by those remarks, the bird next morning refused to bring in the wood, telling the others that he had been their servant long enough, and had been a fool into the bargain, and that it was now time to make a change, and to try some other way of arranging the work. Beg and pray as the mouse and the sausage might, it was of no use; the bird remained master of the situation, and the venture had to be made. They therefore drew lots, and it fell to the sausage to bring in the wood, to the mouse to cook, and to the bird to fetch the water.
And now what happened? The sausage started in search of wood, the bird made the fire, and the mouse put on the pot, and then these two waited till the sausage returned with the fuel for the following day. But the sausage remained so long away, that they became uneasy, and the bird flew out to meet him. He had not flown far, however, when he came across a dog who, having met the sausage, had regarded him as his legitimate property, and so seized and swallowed him. The bird complained to the dog of this bare-faced robbery, but nothing he said was of any avail, for the dog answered that he found false credentials on the sausage, and that was the reason his life had been forfeited.
He picked up the wood, and flew sadly home, and told the mouse all he had seen and heard. They were both very unhappy, but agreed to make the best of things and to remain with one another.
So now the bird set the table, and the mouse looked after the food and, wishing to prepare it in the same way as the sausage, by rolling in and out among the vegetables to salt and butter them, she jumped into the pot; but she stopped short long before she reached the bottom, having already parted not only with her skin and hair, but also with life.
Presently the bird came in and wanted to serve up the dinner, but he could nowhere see the cook. In his alarm and flurry, he threw the wood here and there about the floor, called and searched, but no cook was to be found. Then some of the wood that had been carelessly thrown down, caught fire and began to blaze. The bird hastened to fetch some water, but his pail fell into the well, and he after it, and as he was unable to recover himself, he was drowned.

It is an extract from 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' by Mark Haddon.

It was 7 minutes after midnight. The dog was lying on the grass in the middle of the lawn in front of Mrs Shears' house. Its eyes were closed. It looked as if it was running on its side, the way dogs run when they think they are chasing a cat in a dream. But the dog was not running or asleep. The dog was dead. There was a garden fork sticking out of the dog. The points of the fork must have gone all the way through the dog and into the ground because the fork had not fallen over. I decided that the dog was probably killed with the fork because I could not see any other wounds in the dog and I do not think you would stick a garden fork into a dog after it had died for some other reason, like cancer for example, or a road accident. But I could not be certain about this.

I went through Mrs Shears' gate, closing it behind me. I walked onto her lawn and knelt beside the dog. I put my hand on the muzzle of the dog. It was still warm.

The dog was called Wellington. It belonged to Mrs Shears who was our friend. She lived on the opposite side of the road, two houses to the left.

Wellington was a poodle. Not one of the small poodles that have hairstyles but a big poodle. It had curly black fur, but when you got close you could see that the skin underneath the fur was a very pale yellow, like chicken.

I stroked Wellington and wondered who had killed him, and why.

My name is Christopher John Francis Boone. I know all the countries of the world and their capital cities and every prime number up to 7,057.

Then she showed me this picture

and I knew that it meant 'happy', like when I'm reading about the Apollo space missions, or when I am still awake at 3 am or 4 am in the morning and I can walk up and down the street and pretend that I am the only person in the whole world.

Then she drew some other pictures

but I was unable to say what these meant.

I got Siobhan to draw lots of these faces and then write down next to them exactly what they meant. I kept the piece of paper in my pocket and took it out when I didn't understand what someone was saying. But it was very difficult to decide which of the diagrams was most like the face they were making because people's faces move very quickly.

The passage suggests the following about Siddhartha:

4. He has revealed his pain and suffering to the world

Who was Siddhartha?

Siddhartha was a young boy who came to the world in the quest for knowledge and wisdom. Siddhartha did not believe that knowledge was meant to be simply taught. He rather believed that knowledge ought to be practiced to be completely evident. We can also see in the story that Siddhartha revealed his pain and suffering to the world when he had to endure tiredness, hunger, and thirst.

Siddhartha denied himself many things to gain the enlightenment that stemmed from knowing and experiencing suffering. There were other experiences that helped Siddhartha to see that at the end of one's life, suffering was often imminent. The corpse, the ill person, and an old man are a few instances that convinced the Buddha of the imminent suffering in the world.

Maglev Trains: Speeding Into the Future

There are new trains coming, ones that have no wheels and float on air. No, they are not science fiction. They are Magnetically Levitated Trains, or Maglevs for short.

These high-tech trains have no need for wheels because a strong magnetic field suspends them just ten millimeters above the track, or guideway. Changes in the magnetic field propel the floating trains forward. Without any contact between the trains and the guideway to slow them down, Maglevs can reach speeds much greater than normal trains. The Japanese-built MLX-01 Maglev train has reached nearly 350 miles per hour—faster than manysingle-propeller airplanes!

Due to high costs and changing technology, there are only a few Maglevs in operation today. However, the speed and efficiency of these amazing machines will simplify transportation in the future.
