Answer 1

Answer:

The English government had been very abusive towards the colonist who installed a new government that could function similar to the monarchy below king George. Many states wrote their own constitution and the constitutions consisted of political ideas that provided freedom for the citizens and state were still printing their own money many states wanted to find common ground to corporate with each other when the states come together and elect political officials. The article of confederation gave states the power of the government which could be a pro and a con  that made the government weaker

Many people today talk about strengths with the article of confederation and because of the unpopularity of the document it soon became. Congress had the power to declare war, sign treaties and entertain foreign relations and many discussions between states. Territorial problems between other states brought to be Congress they also offered Canada union. Many businessmen and crop workers were upset with the new system rules and with strong government there is stronge laws.

Answer 2

Confidential Letter, December 1786.

Commander Lieutenant Major Reginald Brighton,

The powers that the U.S Congress has under the Articles of Confederation are minimal.

Only Congress can make foreign treaties, raise and lead the army and navy, set up mail delivery systems, and declare war if needed. But even though Congress can declare war, the states decide if they would send troops or not. This could be an advantage for Britain.

Aside from this, the U.S Congress has effectively organized the territory by making rules and has created a system for the territories to become states.

In the Articles of Confederation, the states have the most power. They collect taxes, print and borrow money(like the congress), send soldiers and officers to the army and navy, establish courts to settle disputes, and elect or appoint leaders to enforce the law. This could be a strength because if congress were to fall each state could fight back individually.

In contrast, a group of angry farmers in western Massachusetts is trying to shut down the Massachusetts Supreme Court. This is leading to many problems. This is just one of the many examples of how the people have reacted to this new government.

A new government is strongly needed, where Congress has more power, where federal government rights are more important than state rights.
