Cat owners often debate whether it is best for cats to stay in or go out. Some believe you should keep your cat indoors at all times. Others think your cat should be allowed to go outside when it wants to.
Owners who think your cat should stay inside argue that it is too dangerous for cats to roam outside. Allowing cats outside also increases the chance that they will be exposed to diseases like feline leukemia. In addition to being concerned about the health of their cat, these cat owners do not like the uninvited guests outdoor cats may bring home. For example, fleas can jump on a cat outside, hitch a ride inside, and multiply once inside your home. Outdoor cats also have a tendency to bring home “treats” for their owners—a dead mole on the doorstep or worse, on your pillow.
But people on the other side of the issue argue that it is cruel to keep a cat indoors. How many hours does an indoor cat spend staring out the window, watching birds or the cars on the street? These owners say it is unnatural for animals never to go outside. They also claim that without exercise cats will grow fat and lazy, sleeping on the sofa. Once cats get a taste of the outdoors, they usually are no longer content to stay in all day. To these owners, this proves it is wrong not to let cats go outside.
If you do decide to let your cat outdoors, there are steps you can take to increase its safety. Try to bring the cat in at night, when it is more likely to be hit by a car or attacked by other animals. And all cats, whether indoor or outdoor, should wear a collar with identifying information in case they get lost.

People on BOTH sides of the issue presented in this passage apparently believe that

A. it is most important to keep their cat safe

B. cats make better pets than dogs

C. their cat should be allowed to do what is most natural

D. they are doing what is best for their cat

Authors of science fiction novels use suspense to keep the reader engaged in the story. Analyze the structure of the story to determine how the author of "War of the Worlds" uses Ogilvy's encounter with the meteorite to increase suspense for the reader. Use evidence from the text to support your response.

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

The author structures the text so that the reader perceives Ogilvy's curiosity with the meteorite, which has caused him to observe it from a distance, but concentrated in all its form. His curiosity is what triggers the suspense, because anything can happen while he watches the meteorite and it really happens, since he sees something moving, like a lid being pushed by someone who wants to get out, escape from inside the meteorite. Ogivly doesn't know what it is and it stimulates suspense and causes Ovigly to exclaim "" Good heavens! " [...] "There's a man in it — men in it! Half roasted to death! Trying to escape!" "

PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP I WILL MARK BRAINLIEST - SHARKS' TEETH
Langston Carter

The day we found the sharks' teeth was foggy and cool. Moisture hung in the air so thick you could almost see it sparkling in the dim sunlight. There were days, early in the summer like this one, where it seemed there was more water in the air than in the bay. We had beached the boat and stepped out on the recently cleared spit of land. The ground had a light dusting of white sand over an under layer of dried black mud. It looked like a recently frosted chocolate cake, though the frosting was spread a bit thin for my taste. The ground was solid, but we knew from experience that it was full of fiddler crab holes, and would be underwater at the first super-high tide. Mysteriously, to us anyway, someone wanted to build a house there.

We often came to these spots to look for artifacts. Our beach, our summer home, had been a fishing camp for as long as anyone living could remember. The oldest stories told of travelers coming down to the edge of the sea, lining up to fill their wagon beds with salted fish to take back home. Old decaying cabins still lined the beach. Rotting nets, hung out to dry in the last century, decorated their weathered walls. Their broken faces spun stories in our minds. The fishermen who, tanned and wrinkled from sun and salt, hauled their nets full of splashing mullet in to cheers from the waiting crowds. The bounty of the sea lightened everyone's hearts, and the smell of roasting fish filled the damp air. Women fanned themselves from wagon seats. Children splashed in the shallow edges of the bay. It was a scene we had acted out as youngsters, building an imaginary bridge to a life we would never fully know.

In the first panel of Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi marks her narrative as an autobiographical coming-of-age novel: “This is me when I was 10 years old. This was in 1980” (3). The author also chooses to refer to her childhood protagonist with the nickname “Marji” — a diminutive form of “Marjane.” By differentiating her childhood self from her adult self, Satrapi suggests that her novel will pay close attention to the processes of childhood development and identity formation. How does Satrapi represent her protagonist’s process of identity development? How does Marji begin to discover who she is and what she believes?

In the first panel of Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi marks her narrative as an autobiographical coming-of-age novel. Satrapi represents her protagonist’s process of identity development by mentioning that she was just ten year old.

What is coming-of-age novel?

The coming-of-age novel was a complete story of Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is an amazing coming-of-age autobiography that describes the enormous hardships a young, disobedient Iranian girl faces as she desperately searches for her identity. Satrapi is depicted in the book's opening pages as a 10-year-old girl coping with the start of Iran's Islamic Revolution.

Further Marji undergoes a lot of transformation in Persepolis over the course of her life. She has previously been a fervent religious adherent. She can be a renegade and wants to be perceived as extremely Western at other times. She aspires to compromise between secular and Islamic life as an adult.

However readers attention was drawn to the fact that it uses graphic language and imagery that are inappropriate for use in the curriculum for students in the seventh grade.

Therefore the seventh-grade teachers would not to teach this book and to take any copies out of their classrooms if they haven't already.
