Answer the following questions about the director’s choices in adapting “Stranded” into a staged performance. Select Yes or No.

The sweltering afternoon sun beat down mercilessly upon the road, browning their faces and the sad, parched grasses along the roadside. Steve’s boots crunched heavily along the gravel shoulder. With each step, the noise rankled slightly more. Ramon wiped a trickle of sweat from his temple and shifted the cat carrier to his right hand. (Its occupant made a single vocal protest.)

“And why,” he huffed testily, “is it my job to carry your cat?”

A few steps behind, Steve rolled his eyes and groaned. “Oh for the love of Pete! Fine, give her to me.” Ramon thrust the carrier into his hands. Steve peeked inside, clucking his tongue at the cat. “Ramon is so grumpy, isn’t he, kitty? He acts like this is all our fault.”

“Because it is all your fault!” Ramon burst out, and launched into a tirade about every step of their miserable journey. How Steve had left the car unlocked, and how the car had been stolen. How the cab driver had refused to take the cat along, and how Steve had forgotten to charge his phone, and so now they were walking all the way home . . . .

“And the heat,” Steve interrupted sarcastically, “don’t forget, it’s my fault that it’s hot out, too.” Ramon fell silent a moment, then sighed heavily—really, more of a growl than a sigh.

“You’re right, I apologize,” he mumbled. “And hey, at least you knew the right road to get us back home.”

“Yeah,” Steve said in a wavering voice, “I mean, probably . . . . This is almost probably definitely the right road.” He braced himself for another onslaught, but Ramon just laughed.

“Well it goes somewhere, anyway. Roads always do go somewhere.”

In the 1800s, what were days of Thanksgiving meant to celebrate? Support
your answer with details from the text.

Answers

Answer:

Therefore, until about the mid-1800s, any thanksgiving type feast had religious significance for those celebrating. For instance, it meant that Pilgrims or Colonists were giving thanks to God for certain circumstances, such as a bountiful harvest or surviving a harsh winter.

In 1800, Thanksgiving Day stated that it was necessary to thank God for all the graces received during a year.

We can arrive at this answer because:

Thanksgiving in 1800 had a similar meaning to today's meaning. This day was used to give thanks for the past year and all that was achieved in it.However, in 1800 this holiday had a religious character, as pilgrims thanked God for the blessings received.Currently, this religious character has been lost, as people have different religions and many do not even consider themselves religious.

In this case, we can say that the day of thanksgiving is a day that retains its meaning, however, it has lost its religious character.

D. dogs can be trained to fetch.

Answer: A, young dogs cannot play games

It's D, I've read the story before.

I wouldn't say C because it doesn't really match very well with the sentence at the end of the story. It says "He is not a perfect fetch player yet, but I can now tell that one day he will be!" Basically telling us that dogs can be trained if you train them to play a game.

Because the economy of a certain country relies heavily on steel production, its government only allows a set amount of foreign steel to be brought into the country each year. What type of barrier to trade is this an example of?

Answers

Answer:

import quota

Explanation:

The import quota is a trade barrier established to benefit local producers of a given product. This barrier restricts the quantity of a given foreign product in a country that produces that product. The objective, as already mentioned, was to reduce the circulation of foreign products, benefiting the purchase of local products and stimulating the economy and local production. This trade barrier is temporary and can be established for long or short periods of time.

An example of this can occur when the US government imposes import quotas on Brazilian sugar, to stimulate the production and sale of local sugar.
