12. Carly's family is going to buy cell phones for the entire family. After some research they have narrowed their choices
down to 2 companies. AT&T charges a monthly rate of $100 plus $15 for each phone on the account. Their competitor,
Sprint, charges a flat monthly fee of $200 and they will receive an unlimited number of phones on the account.
a. Write an equation for the cost of each cell phone provider and then graph the equations.
AT&T:
Sprint:
b. Use any method to determine which company would be cheaper if Carly's family consists of Carly, mom, dad, two brothers, and one sister. Explain your reasoning

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a. The equation for the cost of AT&T would be $100 + $15n, where n is the number of phones on the account. The equation for the cost of Sprint would be $200.

We can graph these equations on a coordinate plane with the x-axis representing the number of phones on the account and the y-axis representing the monthly cost. The graph for the cost of AT&T would be a straight line starting at the point (0,100) and going through the point (1,115), (2,130), etc. The graph for the cost of Sprint would be a horizontal line at the y-coordinate of 200.

b. In order to determine which company would be cheaper for Carly's family, we can simply plug in the number of phones they have (5) into each of the equations we derived in part a. This would give us a cost of $200 for AT&T and $200 for Sprint. In this case, both companies would be equally cheap for Carly's family.

Alternatively, we could graph the equations and see which company's line is lower on the y-axis for the given number of phones (5). This would also show that both companies would be equally cheap for Carly's family in this case.

how do i get an equation perpendicular to 5/4x + 2 that passes through the point (-6,2)

Answers

Answer: -4/5x - 22/5

Step-by-step explanation:

To find an equation of a line that is perpendicular to a given line and passes through a given point, we need to first find the slope of the given line. The slope of a line is the ratio of the change in the y-coordinate to the change in the x-coordinate of any two points on the line. For example, the slope of the line 5/4x + 2 is 5/4.

To find the equation of a line that is perpendicular to a line with slope m, we need to use the equation:

y - y1 = -1/m(x - x1)

where (x1, y1) is the given point that the line passes through. In this case, the given line has slope 5/4 and the given point is (-6,2), so the equation of the line perpendicular to 5/4x + 2 that passes through (-6,2) is:

y - 2 = -1/((5/4))(x + 6)

y - 2 = -4/5(x + 6)

y - 2 = -4/5x - 24/5

y = -4/5x - 22/5

Therefore, the equation of the line perpendicular to 5/4x + 2 that passes through (-6,2) is -4/5x - 22/5 (option "-4/5x - 22/5").

mortgage at a rate of 8%.
a. Compute the monthly payment.
b. Find the total of all of the monthly payments for the 30 years.
c. What is the finance charge?
d. Which is greater, the interest or the original cost of the home?

Answers

Answer:

  a.  $3155.19

  b.  $1,135,868.40

  c.  $705,868.40

  d.  interest

Step-by-step explanation:

You want to find the monthly payment, total repaid, and finance charge on a 30-year mortgage for $430,000 at the rate of 8%.

a. Payment

You can use a spreadsheet, financial calculator, app, or the amortization formula to find the payment amount.

  A = P(r/12)/(1 -(1 +r/12)^(-12t))

where P is the principal amount of the loan, r is the annual interest rate, and t is the number of years.

  A = 430,000(0.08/12)/(1 -(1 +0.08/12)^(-12·30)) ≈ 3155.19

The monthly payment is $3,155.19.

b. Total repaid

The total of the 12·30 = 360 payments is ...

  360 · $3155.19 = $1,135,868.40

It will take about $1,135,868.40 to pay off the loan.

c. Finance charge

The finance charge is the difference between the amount repaid and the original loan amount:

  $1135868.40 -430000 = $705,868.40

The finance charge is $705,868.40.

d. Comparison

The finance charge at $706k is considerably greater than the original cost of the home, $430k.

The finance charge is greater.

Bearing is a topic that deals with angles and distance. Thus, the required answers to the given question are:

i. Distance of 1034.2 miles

ii. Bearing of [tex]158^{o}[/tex]

The speed of an object is the rate of movement of the object with time.

speed = [tex]\frac{distance}{time}[/tex]

So that:

distance = speed x time

i. In the given question; let the initial distance covered be represented by d, so that:

d = 250 x 2

  = 500 miles

ii. Let the second distance covered by the pilot be represented by D, so that:

D = 300 x 2

   = 600 miles

iii. Thus let the distance to the starting point be represented by x. From Cosine rule, we have:

[tex]c^{2}[/tex] = [tex]a^{2}[/tex] + [tex]b^{2}[/tex] - 2abCos C

[tex]x^{2}[/tex] = [tex]500^{2}[/tex] + [tex]600^{2}[/tex] - 2(500 x 600)Cos [tex]140^{o}[/tex]

   = 250000 + 360000 - 600000(-0,7660)

   = 610000 + 459600

   = 1069600

x = [tex]\sqrt{1069600}[/tex]

  = 1034.22

x = 1034.2 miles

Using the Sine rule to determine the required internal angle, we have:

[tex]\frac{a}{Sin A}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{c}{Sin C}[/tex]

[tex]\frac{500}{Sin A}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{1034.22}{Sin 140}[/tex]

Sin A = [tex]\frac{500*0.6428}{1034.22}[/tex]

         = 0.3108

A = [tex]Sin^{-1}[/tex] 0.3108

   = 18.11

A = [tex]18^{o}[/tex]

To determine angle B, we have:

140 + 18 + B = 180 (sum of angles in a triangle)

158 + B = 180

B = 180 - 158

  = 22

B = [tex]22^{o}[/tex]

Thus, the required bearing is 180 - 22 = 158

Therefore the distance and bearing required to fly to starting point are 1034.2 miles and [tex]158^{o}[/tex] respectively.

Answer:

x + y = 87

1.5x + 0.5y = 78.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of nachos sold and y be the number of sodas sold

x nachos will cost 1.50x dollars
y sodas will cost 0.50y dollars

So total sales = 1.5x + 0.5y and we know he made $78.50

What is the rate of change for the temperature of this liquid?

Answers

The rate of change of temp w.r.t time is -1.875°F

What is rate of change?

The rate of change (ROC) measures how quickly a variable alters over a predetermined amount of time. When discussing momentum, the term "rate of change" (ROC) is frequently used. It is typically defined as the ratio of a change in one variable to a matching change in another; visually, the rate of change is represented by the slope of a line. The Greek letter delta () is frequently used to represent the ROC.

The term "rate of change" (ROC) describes the rate at which something changes over time.

Thus, it is not the amount of individual changes themselves but rather the acceleration or slowdown of changes (i.e., the pace).

Find the quotient of 6x^3-+18x^2-18x+12 , x-2

Answers

In linear equation, 96 is the quotient.

What in mathematics is a linear equation?

A linear equation is a first-order (linear) term plus a constant in the algebraic form y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

                             Sometimes, the aforementioned is referred to as a "linear equation of two variables," where x and y are the variables.

f(x) =  6x^3-+18x^2-18x+12

x - 2 = 0

x = 2

f( x) = 6 * 8 + 18 * 4 - 18 * 2 + 12

     =  48 + 72 - 36 + 12

      = 132 - 36

      = 96

Use cylindrical coordinates. Evaluate E(x+y+z)dV where E is the solid in the first octant that lies under the paraboloid z=4x2y2.

Answers

Evaluation of E(x+y+z)dV where E is the solid in the first octant that lies under the paraboloid  z = 4 - x² - y² is [tex]\frac{128}{15} + \frac{8\pi}{3}[/tex]

Cylindrical coordinates are a set of three coordinates used to locate a point in the cylindrical coordinate system.

When the polar coordinates are extended to a three-dimensional plane, an additional z coordinate is added.

These three measurements combine to form cylindrical coordinates. The coordinates describe two distances and one angle.

According to the question,

We have to find the area under paraboloid

Given : E is a region that lies under paraboloid  z = 4 - x² - y² and in the first octant.

The intersection of this paraboloid with the xy plane will give z = 0,

z = 4 - x² - y² , z = 0, that is a circle  x² +y² = 4 with radius 2

Therefore , 0 ≤ z ≤ 4 - r²

Therefore, the region E in cylindrical coordinates is

[tex]E = ( r , \theta , z ) | 0 \leq \theta \geq \frac{\pi}{2} , 0 \leq 4 \geq , 0 \leq z \geq 4 - r^2[/tex]

f(x , y ,z ) = x + y + z

=> f(x , y ,z ) = rcosθ + rsinθ + z

=> f(x , y ,z ) = r(cosθ + sinθ) + z

Integration ,

[tex]{\int \int \int }\limits_E {z} \,dv[/tex]

=> [tex]\int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 \int\limits^{2}_0 \int\limits^{4 - r^2}_0 {[r ( cos \theta + sin \theta) + z] r \, dzdrd\theta[/tex]

simlifying,

[tex]= \int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 \int\limits^{2}_0 \int\limits^{4 - r^2}_0 {[r^2 ( cos \theta + sin \theta) + rz] \, dzdrd\theta\\= \int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 \int\limits^{2}_0 [r^2 ( cos \theta + sin \theta)z + r\frac{z^2}{2}] \, drd\theta[/tex]

=> [tex]\int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 \int\limits^{2}_0 [(4r^{2} - r^{4})( cos \theta + sin \theta) + \frac{r(4 - r^2)^2}{2}] \, drd\theta[/tex]

=> [tex]\int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 [(\frac{4}{3} r^{3} - \frac{r^{5}}{5})( cos \theta + sin \theta) + \frac{(4 - r^2)^3}{12}]^{2}_{0} \, d\theta[/tex]

Putting the limit and solving,

=> [tex]\int\limits^{\frac{\pi}{2}}_0 [(cos \theta + sin\theta )\frac{64}{15} + \frac{16}{3} \theta ]\, d\theta[/tex]

=> [tex][(sin\theta - cos\theta )\frac{64}{15} + \frac{16}{3} \theta ]^\frac{\pi}{2} _0[/tex]

Evaluating the limits,

[tex]\int\int\int\limits_E {x + y +z } \,dV = \frac{128}{15} + \frac{8\pi}{3}[/tex]

Solve the system: x + 2y = 30 -2x - 2y = -38 ordered pair

Answers

Answer:

(8, 11)

x=8

y=11

Step-by-step explanation:

I solved using elimination.

I set the equations over one another getting x+2y=30 over -2x-2y=-38.

I chose elimination because the y values were already the opposite so it can easily cancel each other out. After it get's canceled out I get x=30 over  -2x=-38. When using elimination we always add so you'd add x+ -2x and 30+ -38. When you add x + -2x you'd get -1x. When you add 30 + -30 you'd get -8. Now you have 1x=-8 divide both sides by -1 and you get x=8. Now you plug in 8 to one of the equations. I chose to plug it into the 1st equation which is x+ 2y=30. But because I plugged in the 8 the equation is now 8+2y=30. I subtracted 8 on both sides canceling the 8 out. So now I have 2y=22. divide both sides by 2 and x=11. So your order pair is (8, 11)
